You can watch it live on NASCAR.com

Who gets in? Here's my guess:

Dale Sr
Richard Petty
Bill France Sr
Junior Johnson
David Pearson

LOL Technical difficulties playing Dale's video.

#5 is Junior Johnson

Here's your 2010 NASCAR Hall of Fame Inaugural Class:

Bill France Sr.
Richard Petty
Bill France Jr.
Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Junior Johnson

We can arque till the cows come home but I think Pearson should have made it in place of France, jr.

The other picks are more or less no brainers.

I thought it would be Pearson this year and France Jr. next year. But no one can argue either one should go in before the other.

Next year's locks should be Pearson and Lee Petty. Others with a good chance are Darrell Waltrip, Bobby Allison, Joe Weatherly, Fred Lorenzen, Ned Jarrett, and Red Byron.

Couldnt agree more...France Jr deserves to get it, but i think they would have waited a year on him. Pearson should have been in the first class.

I still think they should have inducted all 25 nominees, and then 5 do a year after that.

I am very happy with the five that will be inducted next year. I also believe that had they brought twenty five in the first year it would have watered down the importance of the first class.

I agree as well although I thought Pearson would be in there. Next year he will be the easy pick just like 4 out of the 5 were this year. Other than Pearson, I think there will be more debate on the next 5 to get in there than there was this year.

Pearson and Lee Petty are definately in the next induction. I think Smokey Yunick should make the list next year also.

and what, also, about Cale Yarbrough?

Good point but I think Pearson and Lee Petty did a lot for the sport early on. Cale would be number seven on my list for 2011. Smokey is on my hot list for his forward thinking. ;)

Next years class will be very dificcult to pick, IMO. so many good candidates.

A friend of mine came up with this idea and I agree totally with him:

If it had been up to me, I would have inducted a class of 15 for this first year only.

I would have named 5 Founding Contributers: Bill France Sr., Harold Brasington, Raymond Parks, Carl Keikefer, and Red Vogt.

I would have named 5 founding drivers: Lloyd Seay, Red Byron, Lee Petty, Herb Thomas, and Tim Flock.

I would have then voted 5 in like they did. With so many worthy candidates, it could be years before some of these early stars ands contributers are recognized, and someone like 95 year old Raymond Parks should be recognized while they are still alive and kicking.

That would really be nice if that could happen.

you know, there is one section I think that has been totally overlooked..... and was just as, if not more so important to the growth of the sport....... The guys who publicized the sport....... I mean, long before flag to flag coverage, the internet, and the saturation of the sport, there was print and radio...... people like Barny Hall, Chris economaki, T Taylor Warren, Ken Squire, and hosts of others WERE NASCAR..... If not for people like them and Tom Higgins, and the other beat reporters that loved the sport, half of America would have no idea what was goin on in the rural south some 50 years ago............

All in due time. I don't think that they were overlooked as Winston Kelly is the executive director of the HOF. He was a long time coworker of Barney Hall. I'd imagine that they will have that sort of section to the Hall on down the line. It's going to take a long time to get everyone deserving into the Hall @ 5 per year.

you are right... its gonna take a long time. That was what bugged me so much about DW's and some others comments when they said that the HoF would need to scale back in the comin years, cause they would run outta people that deserved to go in at inductin 5 a year..... I mean come on........ just people that helped the sport, broadcasters, journalists, photographers, promotors, track owners and the like could take up years..... then ya still have car owners, Crew chiefs, and drivers....... I mean I could see it takin nearly 20 years or better to recognize the ones from the foundin days, and by then, drivers of today would be eligable......

DW....... Is that guy still around?

He's probably going to be pushing to have an animation wing added to the HOF. LOL
