His first marriage ended in divorce in 1992. His marriage to current wife Lisa in 1994 has resulted in two children, daughter Meredith Suzanne, and son Robert Glenn Johnson III

I met Junior in 1994 when my wife (we weren't married at the time) and I took a ride out to see the track at N. Wilkesboro. On the way back home, we took a turn to Ingle Hollow to see Junior's shops. We were both big Bill Elliott fans. We pulled into the drive and we could see Junior chatting with some people who had Budweiser clothing on. This was a time between races, right after a Taladega race. We walked towards the garages and soon we heard from behind us, "How y'all are?". We turned around and there was Junior. My wife at that time worked at Forsyth Memorial Hospital where Junior's wife had just given birth to their son. She then introduced me to Junior as though she had known him all her life. We shook hands and he told us that we could go anywhere we wanted and he told us what all the buildings were. Then he pointed to the big house behind us and said, "That's where Flossie lives." Anyway, he was very friendly and accommodating.
