Hamilton back to Petty in 2004?

Among the Cup rides speculated to be available next year is the famed 43 car [Petty Enterprises], where [Bobby] Hamilton scored the first win of his career in Phoenix during that '96 season. His name has come up as a replacement for John Andretti for 2004 (an ironic twist, since that's how Hamilton got the ride in the first place) and Hamilton said he would not be against the idea. "My name has been in that (car) since forever, only because I was the fortunate one to be in it when the race team was as great as it was and I was able to have success," he said. "I got labeled as the guy who gave it success and that wasn't the case. You know as well as I do, Dale Jarrett can win races, but he ain't winning right now…are you going to sit there and tell me that man forgot how to drive overnight? I was just the fortunate one who got labeled as being the successor at Petty Enterprises, when it was Petty Enterprises that made me successful. Now, would I drive it again or not? I don't know," he continued. "If they were to call or if they were interested, yeah, I'd sit down and talk to them, because I think the world of the family, but it would just be a business decision to be made at that time. My priority is what I'm doing right now and that's to win a championship."

Hmmm..... Not sure about that. IMO PE needs a young driver that seems to be the thing now! If that does happen I would be happy. CF is not doing crap, and a driver change is needed. I was a fan of CF but he needs more time in ARCA of BGN!

Bobby's name comes up every time there is any rumor of driver changes at PE. Just as it did last year.

I know that Kyle finds these rumors highly amusing, as for the most part they are usually completely unfounded.

Would PE benefit from rehiring Bobby as a driver. Not overly much IMO. The Petty program is way off track and even Bobby says there would not be much he could do to improve that. The answer probably lies in a more sweeping change of philosophy and technology rather a change in the drivers seats. Truth be told, Kyle is as talented as Bobby in that respect and that talent has nothing to improve the team's fortunes.

They need to do something and fast im 25 Ill race for em In a heartbeat :D

I hated to see Hamilton go in the first place especially with JA coming back. I thought Bobby would be a good fit at PE. However now I don't know if Bobby is what is needed to help PE. CF doesn't have any business in Winston Cup yet. Maybe if Bobby did come back he might be able to help advise on things to do to make the cars run better.
