Cancer treatments will continue, Hamilton says
By DAVID POOLE
The Charlotte Observer

NASCAR driver and team owner Bobby Hamilton said Wednesday his doctors say there are still cancer cells on the right side of his neck and that he is continuing treatments.

Hamilton, 49, said in August his doctors were optimistic about test results after extensive chemotherapy and radiation.

"Cancer is an ongoing battle," Hamilton said. "Once you are diagnosed you always live with the thought of the disease in your body. It is the worst thing you could ever imagine."

Hamilton announced in March that he had been diagnosed with cancer and said he hoped to return to drive for the Truck Series team he owns by the beginning of the 2007 season.

"We are going to continue to search for the best available treatment for my form of cancer," he said.

"I didn't want to be labeled as a victim when I announced it, and I sure won't be down and be a victim now."
