HAPPY 4th of JULY Everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!

Headed down to the beach for food, family, fireworks and bondfires for as far
as you can see along the shore of Lake Ontario!
Be safe everyone and enjoy!!!

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. I didn't do too much due to having Bronchitis, but we had a good time anyway. The wife and kids and I grilled chicken and had potato salad, corn on the cob, grape salad and such and watched Jaws. It was a good time.

Sorry you weren't feeling well, but at least had a decent time. :)

Here's some pics from our annual 4th celebration down on the shore of Lake Ontario. Didn't get enough good ones which show the tons of people down there nor the extent of the fireworks which literally go on for hours, every year!

Here's a before shot of just one of the huge bondfires which line the whole shore as far as you see. Yeah, they took their flags off before burning. ;)

Well, it's not exactly ME who throws a good party, just all the folks who live down on the lakeshore, including my brother.

I'd probably have to join you in the cart. LOL I remember my dad taking us to driving ranges when we were kids and I'd hit the ball about 3ft. I wasn't much better at minature golf either! :D

I sure do hope they get those fires out soon. It's so awful what's been happening out in CA the last few years. I wish you'd just get "regular rain" so you don't have to deal with mudslides when you do get it. My prayers are going out for all the people out there.

But when you think about it this is not the 1st fire in that area. It's not even the 2nd or 3rd. That part of Cali has been burning off and on for as long as we have written history. Likewise with the areas hit by mudslides. Why would you put a multi-million dollar house on the side of a mountain when you know that last year or the year before the one that was there washed down the mountain.
We have the same thing here with people building on the barrier islands and then wonders why their houses fall in the ocean when the sands shift. The sands have been shifting since time began so what idiot puts a house on shifting sand.
We cry over the peoples living in the desert starving because they can't grow food. Hello, its a frigging desert for a reason. Rather than spending millions on getting food to them why don't we take them to areas where they can grow their food.

OMG BP... you sound so uncaring and yet, funny as hell and I just cracked up for the first time in days. Yes, it's true, it's been happening forever, but I can't help but feel bad for the people who did move/build there when they had a choice, even if they were boneheads. ;)

I just have to thank you for giving me a great laugh because I needed one more than I can tell you. ROFL!! :D

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed..lol
But really all those people who rebuild here in Cali.. Im from Northern cali though..are just like the people who rebuild after hurricane.. tornados.. floods..earthquakes.. etc.. you live were you live and you deal with the what God gives you.. You rebuild and move on!! Of course it helps they have really great insurance for those million dollar homes. But for me here in Nor Cal.. its just dry everywhere and im lucky to live in the beautiful mountains and i wouldnt have it any other way but no rain = lots of fuel for fire no matter what state you live in!!

But that's my point. They live where they live and they are the ones that chose to live there. And then not if and not even when because it will assuredly happen that disaster will strike they don't deal with what God gives them. No, they run crying to the government and expect a bail out with my tax money. The fire departments and EMS, etc aren't working for free. That's someone's tax dollars at work and all because someone thought living in the midst of a brush fire so they could enjoy the scenery as the flames are licking up their backside would be nice.
Instead what needs to happen is what the Federal Government did in Mississippi after Katrina. The insurance company settled with my Aunt for losing her house, (she's doing fine now, thanks) and the Feds bought a large swath of land along the beach front so they wouldn't have to keep paying for homes that were destroyed by hurricanes.
And in Lumberton, NC the Lumbee River would flood its banks about every 10 years or so. Finally the Feds stepped in after the last floods and told people they couldn't rebuild in that area. It was well past time.
Some places just weren't meant to be lived in. But people are too stupid to realize that especially when they know they will get bailed out. You can say the insurance pays them but do they pay their fair share of premiums? Or, are their premiums subsidized by other home owners who live in safer locales? I think we know the answer because they couldn't afford the premiums otherwise.
So no I don't feel sorry for the people who have lost their homes. And maybe that does sound uncaring but they're the ones that chose to live where they do. These are not freak occurences of nature that can't be predicted. Those people I feel sorry for.
