Bill Elliott:All Ford guys have to love the way you took a GM-biased sanctioning body and turned the tables on them!Incredible.Remember when ol'Big Bill turned red-faced and cryptically accused you of'stinkin' up the outhouse'?Man,nobody was supposed to upstage Dale and Darrell! In '85 that would be kinda like Kurt is doing to Junior and Gordon these days!Great job Bill.

Robert Yates:Davey was the great Ford hope and we all still miss him here at home. One that could have done wonders.A sad thing. We miss you Davey.
And thank you RYR for your dedication and for Kenny and Ernie and Ricky,Dale and Elliot.

Alan Kulwicki:Took the old 'under-bird' and kicked tale that year didn't you?Great job to you buddy and to the other Ford drivers that you battled down to the wire.Wish you were still around.

Junie,Bud and the Wood Brothers. You three set the standard for Jack and Robert.Ford fans love you for that.

And to you Jack Roush:

You brought the most skilled driver to ever sit in a stock car and gave Mark something he could win in!I remember '88 and the 'invisible year' and chilly reception you got.Maybe NASCAR and their beloved General could see the writing on the wall even back then. Thanks for all your contributions and for that damned killer Mustang you put on the street! And we all know who the champ was in '90.
Thanks for giving Ted and Johhny,Chad,Wally,Kevin Lepage and all those guys a chance. And of course for Mark,Jeff,Matt,Greg,Kurt,Jon and Carl. You finally got the 'Gordon-killer' now.Sit back and enjoy it.

Thanks to all of you Ford Blue guys and to all that came before you in the golden years.Freddy,Ned and David jump to mind.

Now look to the future, take the titles and keep kickin' Chevy ass! :salute: :salute:

Hey Bowtie, he said keep kickin.

::Long Pause::

When did they ever start?

Manufacturer's titles or WC titles?

The former 6.

The latter 2.

And that brings up an often overlooked fact by the Chevy faithful:

Take away Earnhardt and Gordon for the last 17 years and what have you got?Nothing to write home about. Now go back the last 23 seasons and take Waltrip out of the picture. These three guys have won 43+% of Chevrolets win total in WC history.Notable in one very important aspect mainly:All these victories and drivers came about after the 'modern' era.To but it even more bluntly...they all came about after NASCAR courted and begged The General to come back to top level NASCAR competition after Ford and Mopar sent them running scared in the late sixties.
The illusion...and illusion is really what it is..that Chevy is a dominant car in WC is relatively new and can be traced back to the 'Waltrip and his company car' era of the late seventies-early eighties. That combined with the NASCAR crafted and cultivated Earnhardt mythos is really what started this bit of misperception.

Well,at least in my humble opinion!

I would say just prior to the modern era,Nate.1965 thru 1969 when Ford had 88 wins to the 7 of Chevy.

W.C titles........Who cares who won them? Chevy has them. :D

Good Points 97 but the swingin sixities is when Chevy all but pulled out on Nascar to open the door for rivals. Keep in mind 68 and 69 Trans AM series was dominated by the Penske Z-28's.

Since 72, sure its just with a handful of drivers, but the most races and the most championships were won with Monte Carlos.

Then lets go back to mid 50's, arrival of the v-8's. 57' came with 18 victorys and 58 brought an outstanding 23 victories.

This may go on forever, haha.

I really have never understood this manufacturer arguement. If pressed on the issue, I would have to say I prefer Ford to Chevy for no apparent reason other than the fact that I have had better luck with Ford'd that I have owned than with any GM's I have owned. That being said, I root for driver's not makes. I really do like Jeff Gordon and would still root for him if he drove a Toyota. I do like several of Ford's drivers, but most of my favorite Ford drivers are getting pretty long in the tooth. I really do like Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett, Ricky Rudd and several others. I also really like Matt Kenseth, and I think he has a very bright future ahead of him. But it is really pretty hard for me to like Kurt Busch, and several others. Ryan Newman is ok, but there is just something about him I don't like much.
