Richard Petty celebrating 70th birthday

For years, Petty has spent his birthday in Daytona Beach, Fla., because NASCAR was running at Daytona International Speedway. But the Pepsi 400 at Daytona is on July 7 this year, giving "The King" a chance to be at home with family and friends.
"I can't remember the last time I've been home to celebrate my birthday," Petty said. "I've always been in Daytona. That was fine, too. We won a lot of races there, but it will be nice to be around the family. It's just the way the date landed this year."
Petty wasn't sure what was in store for him for this birthday.
"I don't know what anyone has planned," Petty said. "I leave that up to my wife [Lynda]. She will let me know, and we'll do that. Then it's back to Daytona because that's what we know."
