According to NASCAR, Kevin Harvick has been fined 35K and is on probation till the end of the year. Other crew members were also fined and some suspended. You can read all about it at nascar.com.

I read that Pat Tryson, crew chief for the Wood Brothers was fined as well.

The whole thing sounds just about right to me.

No surprises on this end.

Uh Oh, another pocket-change fine...I'm sure it'll make it all better...

I think they were pretty fair. Much what everyone expected.

well, im glad they actually fine him, but just to show how insignificant 35,000 really is, Harvick won $89,383 for his 16th place finish

So where does the money from all these fines go? Maybe towards hiring a conflict resolution conselor? Anger management classes? Where!? Or just to some random bank account for NASCAR.

(BTW NASCAR, you can keep that money in MY bank acct if you want...Sincerely, Splunge)

I sorta figured that he would get fined. and probation. Poor old Kevin will have to go to the bank and borrow the money to pay the 35 grand.

Ah, I remember someone calling somebody else a real butt hole for doing something stupid...takes one to know one I guess.

From ESPN:

Childress said he also called Rudd's team, Wood Brothers Ford, to apologize and offer to pay for the damage to its car.

If this is a serious question (hard to tell).

All the monies collected in fines goes into the overall point fund which is paid out at the end of the season.

I have to agree with HS. I see no surprises in the fine/penalty assessments. Now we'll just have to wait and see if it makes any difference.

Based on what Ken Schrader had to say, Childress is likely breathing a sigh relief at the penalties.

Seems Ken ran into (bad choice of words, make it encountered) Richard at the airport either last night or early this morning. According to Ken, Richard said this id gonna be bif, he says he had never seen Mike Helton as mad as he was Sunday night in the trailer.

Probation is what is going to stick the thorn in Harvick's side each time he thinks about going off the handle. Money really is not a biggie. But if he were to do something that NASCAR feels is unappropriate then they shall lay the smacketh down on him.

Best you can do??

The big mistake is that Mike was not likely in the trailer Sunday night..............the race was over long long before then.

The old fine that can be settled in half-a races winnings eh? Probably end up going to that evil Jesse Jackson thing.

I was smiling...sorry. I use the quick reply most times so can't use those little thingys.......

After you posted that, I reread the post and realized it was all messed up. Typos and wrong days for just about everything.

I never did think that Harvick would get suspended and I'am glad he didn't. That keeps him in third place in points, And with any luck can still move into 2nd. No chance to catch Matt. :D

Yarghhh, he can at least blow Dale Jr. away. That would make me a bit happier

yeah the probation sounds good and all but what do you do when he trys to pay rudd back then what. Suspend him give him a seat in the anger management classes, but if hes smart he will let it go like Kurt did to save his points his 2nd place in the points, respect from the drivers, fan you name it.

All told it seems fair enough...I actually was expecting worse and had quite the sigh of relief going when the news came out.

Of course, the wonderful [insert sarcastic tone here] thing is that for all that NA$CAR is calling everyone's actions "detrimental to stock car racing", you know that they will be hyping the possibility of payback to the hilt before Sunday, not to mention the fact that we'll get to see the blow-by-blow replay, probably with other assorted replays of "incidents" past, ad nauseum before, during and likely after the race. It's all detrimental unless they can make a buck or two and get those ratings up!
