AVONDALE, Az. - Kevin Harvick is no longer a Craftsman Truck Series bridesmaid. After 75 career starts and five runnerup finishes, Harvick finally made it into victory lane Friday afternoon as he held off Ted Musgrave by .0022-seconds to win the Chevy Silverado 150 at Phoenix International Raceway.
Harvick had to overcome a green-white-checker restart when a three truck crash involving Jason Leffler, Brian Rose and Jon Wood brought out the caution with only two laps to go. Since the series doesn't finish races under yellow, Harvick was forced to hold off Musgrave to claim his first NCT win.
"This is really cool to finally be able to win a truck series race," said Harvick who now has wins in all of NASCAR's top three divisions, Winston Cup, Busch Grand National and Craftsman Truck. "We wanted to win one of these for so long and to do it here at Phoenix is just incredible."
Rick Crawford finished third to take a giant bite out of series point leader Mike Bliss' advantage with only next Friday's Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway remaining on the schedule. With Bliss suffering from a sour engine all day, Crawford now trails by only 32 points heading into the season finale.
"If I didn't think I could win the championship I wouldn't even go down to Homestead," said Crawford who started the race from the pole. "This truck was awesome today, the Ernie Elliott engine was fantastic and we feel real good about our chances going to Homestead."
Travis Kvapil and Terry Cook rounded out the Top 5.
The Craftsman Truck Series season closing Ford 200 will take the green flag at 3:30 p.m. (ET) next Friday afternoon.
