what happand to his car. i know he hit the kill switch but what made him hit it? and what does that bution do? how come he could not start it back up?

but i think he was PISSD.....dont relly know just a guess. :p

The kill switch is located on the steering wheel and is there for the driver in case his throttle sticks. Sometimes a driver will hit it on accident. It happens so fast that sometimes the driver has no idea that they hit it and they think its something else like the ignition box or an electrical problem. Kevin probably hit it and did not realize it until he was a lap down which would have only took 8-10 seconds.

He looked a little PO'd but I gather he hit it by mistake. Not sure but I don't think the car can be started from the driver until it's reset.........probably under the hood or something. But, hey, he's a Busch Whacker now and he did the right thing because the Busch guys are racing for a championship and he wasn't. Sort of a "hat's off" to Kevin.

Yeah He sure seemed mad at the Interview, he wouldnt even go back out on the track after he lost all that time. My guess was he accidently hit the thing and couldnt get it to refire? Or did it go by itself and he didnt know what it was until he had already lost a bunch of time? Im not quite sure but he said something like "I hit the kill switch and it doesnt even need to be in there" .

Lap3, I think you could be right on the "pissed" part. Haven't seen him like that in a while. I thought HE was going to "shove" the mic somewhere. LOL
The kill switch I believe is for emergency use--following DE's accident I believe all cars were made to have them. Don't quote me on that one, think that's what I read. Many drivers had them previous to that but was a choice. I believe they're for using when you are going to make an impact at a high rate of speed. Someone with more knowledge is going to have to fill you in. In any case, I got the impression that whatever happened Harvick hit his accidently as they mentioned it was on the steering column. Please, someone correct me if I'm giving the wrong information. It's happened before!! LOL

I read somewhere else that he did it on purpose, that he was frustrated. What a load of crap. He probably could have got a top 5 out of it. I think they had the buttons put in after the New Hampshire deaths.

i think he should have stayed out and have a chance to win. i mean not for points but for the fans stay out. but i relly dont belive he hit in on purpose.

It is really too bad though. Hope he does better tomarrow where it really counts. Congrats to Spencer.

Harvick, driving a ride that he'd wrestled to victory from two laps down a year ago, inadvertently triggered the kill switch with 42 laps remaining, prematurely canceling his bid to win a third-straight Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

"I hit the kill switch," he said just after exiting the car.

That was all he said. After a brief trip to the NASCAR Busch Series trailer, Harvick scurried away to his transporter.

A team spokesperson said that the team may move the switch on their Winston Cup machine -- which is located on the steering wheel -- to different position tomorrow to assure another such incident doesn't occur in the future.

I really don't think he hit it on purpose, but who knows. Doesn't seem like something Harvick would do. I would be alittle upset too if I did something like that. But mistakes happen. I'm sure he is much more interested in doing well tonight than last night. ;)

The kill switches were put in place after Adam Petty and Kenny Irwins accidents. I remember B Labonte commenting on the fact that going into that corner at N.H. if your throttle DID stick you wouldnt have the time to think about hitting it, then in practice it happened to his car and he was thankful he had it.

He said that Bristol was his favorite track. Why would he just quit?
