-Kevin Harvick has set too high a price tag in his contract renegotiations with General Motors, and it now seems unlikely that car owner Richard Childress will renew the deal, according to sources. The two have set an early April deadline. Harvick drives Nextel Cup [and Busch] cars for Childress, and also fields a Truck for Ron Hornaday and two Busch cars, for Burney Lamar, Ron Fellows, Tony Stewart and himself, all under Kevin Harvick Inc. Toyota would likely be willing to support Harvick with a full Nextel Cup-Busch-Truck package, but it is unclear if GM is willing to match that. And it's unclear if Harvick would back down on his price in order to stay with Chevrolet. That is all raising speculation about who Childress might hire to replace Harvick if Harvick does move on.(Winston Salem Journal); Harvick has been rumored to the Red Bull Toyota team and to Michael Waltrip Racing's 2nd team.(3-20-2006)

after seeing the mess last year, he might make it to homestead in the 29, but not for too many seconds thereafter.

After his great finishing of 39th today, is Childress willing to give up that kind of progress to go with a different driver? Maybe Crocker would like to drive the 29. She couldn't do much worse...

im just curiuos as to why Harvick thinks his price is so high...

I don't like Harvick, however I'm glad he's asking for a lot of cash. I'm tired of drivers being told they need to be 'loyal' and 'respectful' of ownership. They could go out and die tomorrow working their job. Not break a knee, and go on to coach, not even be paralyzed and write a book. DEAD.

Like it or not, Kevin's a better businessman than driver, and if that's his plan, good for him. Ask for the stars and if they blink and hand it to you, fine. If not, he's got Toyota in his back pocket ready to make him one of the newest Cup team owners. I don't like the guy, but I don't blame him for a second.

Kyle....these drivers make a ton of money in the Nextel Cup series....Kevin could retire right now and be set for life.

Harvick my be asking a high price, but he has been in equipment that has fallen behind. Even Richard said after Dale died he let things go. Now RCR is getting back up to speed and it shows on track, Harvick has three strait top tens and is now in the top ten in points and will make the chase this year. So if you ask me he would be worth it and he dosnt tear up equipment. He will post results this year and hopefully stay with RCR.

RCR was concentraring on his wines the past couple years now it is time to racew again, LOL

Although, I can tell you his winery is awesome and the wines are very tastey too.
