Now that's what I am tlaking about!!!

TNT looking at no commercial breaks in 2007? Sports Business Journal reports that TNT is floating a package to potential advertisers that would allow advertising during the race broadcast and eliminate commercial breaks. The advertising would take place on the screen during the broadcast and allow continuous race coverage. TNT will broadcast six Nextel Cup races next summer. The story reports that officials from Turner and NASCAR would not comment. The story also reported that TNT's Cup ratings are down 8.3% from last season.(Roanoke Times)(10-18-2006)

NBC did this in 1999. TNT can afford to now that they're limited package.

Daytona commercial-free, that's what I'm talking about! NASCAR WILL shoot it down though.

I remember TBS doing it in 2000, but I don't remember NBC doing it.

If TNT can pull it off, good for them. Fox and ABC will never do it.

I remember ABC did it for the inaugural Brickyard 400 and I remember NBC running No-Brakes in Homestead in 2000.

I assume you mean No-Breaks and not no-brakes as in the cars had no brakes  because that would have been tough!!!!! LMAO!!!!

Cmon wolfcub!

No need for that! Get back to your english class and leave the posters here alone. Remember if you can read what was meant the spelling did it's job.

NBC called it "No-Brakes" ... I don't make it up I just report it.

But how much advertising will there be....... It may get pretty ugly

I think they'll probably use the in-race advertisements they often do and TNT has a way of bugging up the screen with movie promos with their "Right Now" tab or whatever.

TNT might do it but the big factor here is that TNT broadcasts in HD along with FOX and that pumps the price of the broadcast way up. "ESPN on ABC" only does NFL broadcasts on HD which is part of why Side by Side is possible.

It's no secret that we fans hate commercial breaks, but let's face it. The networks aren't in business to bring us this sport, it's to make money. Just as I heard today, corporations are in business to give people jobs, it's to make money. The jobs is just a good off shoot of the whole thing. TNT, FOX, ESPN, ABC and all the rest pay out a huge amount of money to broadcast the races, unlike the way it was in the 80's where ESPN probably started showing the races in a way to try and make money from advertising. NASCAR allowed them because it was a great way to showcase the sport. AT those times, advertising was necessary for the networks to make some money so they could continue to showcase this sport. Now days, the sport is growing, and the networks now have to pay to showcase the sport and hope that enough people watch it so that the advertisers will pay much more for a spot. So remember, unless you pay for a ticket to see the race in person, someone else is paying a lot of money so that you can indeed watch the race, but they will get something for their money, i.e. commercials. You want commercial free racing, you'll have to attend in person or wait for pay-per-view, and even then, unless there is a tremendous about of people paying to watch, you'll probably still see commercials.

Hey Buckaroo
