Talks coming out of Indianapolis are they might be considering heat races on ovals to set the starting grid, except the Indy 500. Possibly starting at Iowa.
The heat races would go like this..
There would be 3 heat races prior to the main race. The drivers in each heat race will be determined by the practice speeds.
Heat Race 1 would be the top 10 in practice speed.
Heat Race 2 would be positions 11 on down filling in the odd starting positions.
Heat Race 3 would be positions 12 on down filling in the even starting positions.
