My name is Dave and I have come to this forum seeking some help. I bought this fender on ebay. All I joined ebay 2004 or 2005 so I purchased it since then.. I got it assuming it is a Michael Waltrip fender but I cant find a photo anywhere. Does anyone recognize the paint scheme? Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

Hi Dave. Until someone who recognizes it posts an answer, you could try checking Jayski's paint scheme pages for 2004 and 2005.

I don't think it's Mikey, at least not in those years. He was driving for DEI then in the #15, which was dark NAPA blue. Of course, while you bought it in '04 or '05, it could be from an earlier season.

I notice the 'MBNA Mid-race Leader' decal; researching when MBNA sponsored that award might help narrow down the time frame.

Those colors look like the Cheerios car to me. Bobby Labonte maybe?

Nice call, I agree it definitely looks like one of those #43 paint schemes, we just have to narrow down the year. He said he joined ebay in 04 or 05 and that it was purchased since then. Dave, do you know what year did you actually buy it?

If it was 04-05 then it wouldn't have been Bobby Labonte cause he was still with Gibbs during those years.

NASCAR has been using a yellow Goodyear sticker for a long long time haven't they?

I was browsing through the #43 jayski photos since 04 till now and I didn't see any black goodyear stickers so it has to be at least since then. I don't recall when they switched.

Hey guys. Thank you for all the input. The nearest my wife and I can figure is we got the fender no later then 06. I cant nail it down based on my ebay history. No item descriptions or prices. Thanks again for the replies.

I looked at the #12 page for 2007 and saw at least four different colors - black, white, red, and blue. I don't think there's a mandated color. They certainly wouldn't mandate using a yellow decal on a yellow car (Kodak, Penske Leasing, Pennzoil, DeWalt, etc.)

I looked at #43 color schemes on Jayski from 2001 to 2007 and didn't see this pattern. #17D500winner is right about the sponsor though; it's definitely Cheerios. Were they on any other car, maybe as a 'one off'?

That's what I noticed too. I think that MBNA's last year for that was 2005. It looks like Petty blue but I couldn't match it to any of there cars. Matt may be on to something with Hellman's too. I don't think Dave is gonna be any closer to answer for a while :D

So this has to be pre 93?

I'm going to rescind what I said, Goodyear started using the Yellow lettering on it's Cup tires in 1993. I'm not sure if it's ever been mandatory for the sponsorship decals to be Yellow?

Can you go back to your ebay buying history and see what it was listed as? Or maybe on the reciept.

Thats just it. Once you go back so far the descriptions and prices are no longer visible and some sellers dont exist anymore. I took a couple more pics showing paint under the wrap.

I'm concurring with Hellman's scheme, but the positions are not right, unless they moved them.

We are ignoring the chance of being a busch series fender as well. Now I don't know if the MBNA mid-race leader award existed in that series or not.

Hellmans ran a few races in 2005 busch series with bill elliot and Paul Wolfe (the now crew chief). I only found this image, might be others closer.

Along the way, found this - http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2005/busch/6hellmans.jpg

colors are off (no white), but mbna, raybestos, moog, clevite are all there. And the dark blue under the wrap correlates with the base coat found on the hood, roof, and C post areas.

hold horses. I have media guides back then. I think they state the mbna award winner. Let me sort through those real quick!

well I don't have the guides for 04 or 06, just 03 and 05.

MBNA did not have the award in busch or trucks that I can find in my media guide. The award was started in 2003, so you're going to need a 2004 guide to get those results, and a 2006 guide for the 2005 results.

I do not see results for 2006 nor 2002. So the award was only for 03, 04, and 05.

2005:

You guys are doing an amazing job but I don't understand the shape of the piece. It looks to be the top center portion of a front fender but yet it it cut in a weird oval shape . Can someone tell me if the shape makes sense?
Also wondering if this is the right or left fender?

I agree. You guys are awsome!! Thanks everyone for all the effort. This is the passenger side fender. Looks to me like the paint under the wrap is similar to Mikes cup car. Its been quite a few years but i am pretty sure I bought this fender under the assumption in came from Michael Waltrip. Could it be one of his Aarons cars? as for Hellmanns...I would have to say no.

You're welcome, but make no mistake - it's a competition now :D

Skills learned from being born on a U-Boat, I imagine.

Close. I was conceived on a U-boat late in WWI. I was born in Hans Kleigars fish market. I was carelessly thrown in with a bulk Cod order and was about to be shipped to the plant when some dude named Sherlock rescued and raised me as his own. But all that is off topic.

The pic was taken at 1:40 pm pacific time and uploaded 5 minutes later. The camera used was a Fujifilm Finepix SL300, inexplicably utilizing the red eye feature.

Inexplicably? Do you see any red eye in it?

sorry,, no red eye reduction was used. Forced flash only. Got the SL300 for christmas and I love it.

Your EXIF knows the truth. :)

I think the EXR technology is great. I like the 'stick in pocket' portability of my F550 EXR, and the low light performance of my F200 EXR. Even with the pronounced flair issues of the 550, I get more great long pics than I ever did with my SLR. Mainly because I often left the SLR in the car rather than carry it around.
