Help identifying these people ...

Hello ... first post. I have sort of inherited a large collection of NASCAR, World of Outlaws, sprint racing type of collectibles and stuff ... and in going through it, I am trying to educate myself about it because I know ZERO about it all. I have found a bunch of autographs, but there are two out of the bunch I can't identify. I was hoping someone would help me with them. If I want to ever sell any of these, I want to know who these people are lol. If I'm posting this in the wrong part of the forum, please feel free to move it to the correct part of the forum lol ... here are the two I can't figure out who they are. Most of the stuff seems to be from the early 90's, if that helps, and thanks in advance for any help:

In which state(s) do you think they competed?
The top name looks like Dave or Dale Black.
Post some high resolution pictures of the autographs, the names on the driver suits and car.

Would one of these places be the Bell Pawn Shop sponsor on the 57?

Hey thanks for the reply ...

The top photograph of the 701 car, was in a photo album that was mostly full of photos taken at the Knoxville Raceway, however all the photos of the Knoxville Raceway were 5x7 glossy photos. This one (the 701), and a few others, were on 4x6 matte finish. So I don't know that they are from the Knoxville Raceway, but they are in the same photo album with the KR photos. They are actually in the beginning of the album. All the photos look to be from the late 80's to early 90's, although I can't find a single date on ANY photo in the album, front or back. If it helps, there are only a few other photos like the 701 photo (4x6) ... the first couple of photos appear to be Sammy Swindell getting in a fight next to his sprint car lol ...

The next photo is the only other photo that seems to go with the 701 car photo:

Here is the 701 car autograph a little bit more high res (sorry I don't have a scanner that works):

Lastly, the Doug / Dan / Dave / Dodie #57 autograph was in a group of other random autographs in a large album full of collecting cards and other randomness. No provenance to go along with it really. The other autographs that were with it range from Steve Kinser to Terry Labonte and a ton of other random things from the early to mid 90's, so I simply can't tell where it came from either :(

And concerning the Bell Pawn Shop ... since the majority of the pics in the album were of the Knoxville Raceway, I would think none of those are it. *Although*, the owner of this collection (who has passed away) lived in Texas, so if any of those places are it, I may think it was the one in Jacksonville, TX.

Looking at the one other car from those pictures that has markings on it, the "Harris and Heath Attorneys" appear to be defunct as I don't find them after a quick Google either. The "Gene's Custom _______", I can't make it out even with the photo in my hand, sorry :(

And this is as good as I can get of the name on #57's suit ... looks like "Jo" something or other ...

If you can't find out, then go to the 2 forums I will post as those are forums for those type of cars.

For the dirt late model, go to www.4m.net I am sure somebody will know on there. Personally I've never seen that car before. Just post in the Racing Gossip, Dirt late models section.

Same with the sprint car, go to http://www.hoseheadforums.com/forum.cfm?forumID=1 this is one of if not the most popular sprint car forums and same thing, somebody on there will surely know who they are.

Paging @TexasRaceLady and @VaDirt , assistance requested on Aisle 1.

That phone number for the attorneys looks like 257-1600, so that might help resolve a location, if it was a home race. Too bad the area code got smudged out.

That fire suit looks like it says Jim, but the autograph looks more like it starts with a D, and the name on the "door" seems to agree (look next to his hip). Last name definitely starts with Kom or Kam. Can't tell if the end is 'be' or 'le' or 'la'.

Also, looks like "Gene's Custom Paint" to me.

@ Weaver ... thanks for those links, I'll try and post on those forums later today, see if someone can recognize them. I appreciate it :)

@ Magnethead ... yeah the door has that "D" on it, and his sig looks like it has a D, but his name on his suit looks like two letters to me, and it looks like a J, so I don't know. And I agree on the rest of the spelling possibilities, I just can't find any matches from Googling.

And that phone number turned up all kinds of hits ... LA to Florida, etc ... without an area code, it was too random :(

on #701, what's the black rear pillar say? I think it has the name on it. Looks like D-E-?? B-R-E-A from what I can see.

I attached the word attorney to it, got some hits out of illinois, but not under that name.

Okay okay .... I solved the 701 mystery haha. David Brack. Don't know why I didn't look at the front of the car this whole time where it says "Brack racing". I think my mind was seeing something about "Brakes" and I assumed it was an sponsor from a brake company or something. Whew !!! Nice :) Thank you all ! Googling his name and number brings up the confirmation hits.

Now the only one left is 57. There is SOOO much in that picture, there's got to be an obvious clue as to who the guy is :(

I think the #57 looks like Don Hamilton. If you look closely at his name on his suit, the last name looks like Hamilton ... and if he's lazy in his signature when it comes to the "n"'s and a few other letters ... then his autograph makes sense also, because his autograph looks like "Do Hamta" ... Googling shows there was a sprint car driver named Don Hamilton in the 80's (indeed, there still is, don't know if the current Don Hamilton is the same guy though). If that's the closest I get to #57, I'll actually be happy.

Thanks to everyone for your help, I appreciate it greatly :)

I thought it said brakes as well on the front.
Yeah I think I was seeing that as well ... and then after your post I realized I really needed to comb over every inch of the car, and that's when my mind stopped playing tricks on me lol. Hey thanks again for your help, I appreciate it.
