THE ATOMIC SPEEDWAY IN OAKRIDGE TN JUST OFF I-40 IN ROANE COUNTY. A LARGE TRUCKING COMPANY IS TRYING TO BUY THIS TRACK OUT AND DEMOLISH IT TO BUILD A TRUCKING FACILITY. IT'S A 1/3 MILE TRACK THIS TRACK IS LOVED BY ALL THE RACING FANS IN THE AREA AND FROM MANY STATES. PEOPLE COME FOR MILES AROUND TO RUN LATE MODEL RACES. THIS IS A NASCAR REGULATED TRACK IT YOU HAVE ANY CONNECTIONS TO NASCAR OR A BIG RACING ORGANIZATION PLZZZ HELP US OUT. WE WANT TO KEEP THIS GREAT TRACK OPEN FOR YEARS TO COME FOR OUR CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN AND THEIR KIDS TO ENJOY. PLZZ SIGN THIS PETITION. If you have never been to atomic put 0 visits and dollars spent 0 but plzzz sign this.

Hey the guys that own the facility asked for the rezoning so they could sell it.. If there is more money to be made in selling it than there is in operating a race track.. then sell it is! Nobody can fault them for making money. After all that is why the track was built in the first place.

Betsy, it was in the way it was done. The Hall of Fame is at that track, Gene Glover (Tony GLovers dad) is on the Hall Of Fame, with several other great drivers. This means alot to us in East Tn Dirt track racing. At least save it. I'm not going to get negative,(about Adams) but these people of Atomic Speedway have a right to be very upset. I would be if it were my home track. We have raced at Atomic several times. He still owes the drivers money, will he pay them??

Seems if the fans had come and filled the stands it might still be a working track. If he does still owe money to the drivers.. That alone says the track was not making money. Selling should have been obvious to everyone.
There comes a time to sell everything! This is prolly the time to sell that track.

I'm not sure a petition will save the track. Now if you come up with more money than the trucking company that dog might hunt. Otherwise you're just dreaming.
Reminds me of the warehouse case in LA. The movie stars were sitting up in trees protesting the return of the people's absconded garden area back to the rightful owner. But, he had offered to sell the property and these movie stars wouldn't come up with the jack to buy it. They'd rather handcuff themselves to a tree. Was this Darryl Hannah among others?

Money talks and BS walks! Buy it yourself or shut up! Them is the words the owner should use.

That's the mindset anymore, take from the rich as long as I don't sign the check...
 
Good luck to you fans of this track, but I still have season tickets for races at North Wilkesboro. Maybe we can trade.
 
I just hate to see another dirt track close. KLMS has went to special shows olny this year, and most likly will just run UMP lates and Mods and cut the rest of the classes. I have heard of a few tracks in IL that have closed over the past 2 years, and a few orthers besides Atomic in TN. Right now for me to run on a real racetrack (note i am not calling the 1/5 at Paducah they put my class on a race track) i have to drive around an hour and 1/2 to Clarksville TN and that is a 1/4, but to go to a 3/8 i have to drive 2 hours to nebo ky. This just sucks on the drivers part.

Betsy is right, if the fans and cars would of been there then it more then likly would still be open. But a track in IL had a high car count and fans but closed after a strom took out a few things. still not heard if they are going to fix it or shut it down for good, they have the money to fix everything.

I might need to go pull the story if I can find it. But, no the Hollywood set was wanting the owner of the property to give it to the people so they could have a garden. He had offered to sell but they had rather handcuff themselves to the trees and have to be removed by the Sheriff's dept. with cherry pickers. If Hannah and her crowd felt so strongly about this cause then they should open their check book or they should STFU.

Reminds me of Sally Struthers standing there in her $500 boots begging on TV for everyone to send in their $10 to support poor children then it comes out that not only are they paying her for her appearance but her contribution is exactly $0.

Too often people want ME to do something for them but they don't want to be inconvenienced to do something for themselves.
