From USA Today:
Helton said the arrival of television partner NBC in 2015 -- it will replace ESPN for the second half of the season -- could coincide with a different-looking schedule after next year's version, which is largely unchanged from 2013. Some fans and even drivers -- including Kevin Harvick -- have suggested the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup should move around to different tracks.

"When we first started the Chase, we said that we weren't going to change the schedule to fit the Chase, but that was 10 years ago," Helton said. "Things change, and you never know what may or may not happen. ... While we may not think it needs to be tweaked or changed, others (in the industry) have influence on our decision to make it better. And certainly we keep an open mind of that."

Harvick's idea is crazy. lol

I do want some changes but to just add a Road Course to it and maybe take Kansas off or something.

I'm old, don't do anything else, leave it alone until I'm dust PLEASE.

IF they add a road course and ringer comes in and takes out a cup contender...

Is that any different than "the big one" at Talladega?

There's a lot of momentum for Sonoma replacing Dover in the Chase in 2015 and Road America picking up Sonoma's Spring date. Taking a date away from Dover is a death sentence though. Dover Motorsports has made it pretty clear they won't be able to stay open if they lose either of their dates. And I doubt NASCAR's interested in losing a track that's in Baltimore and Philadelphia's markets.

From my understanding, Kansas Speedway is required by law to have two dates... that was the agreement when they got approval for the casino. NASCAR will leave Charlotte and Bristol before they take a date away from Kansas or Texas.

If there are any road course ringers out there, they already run in the Cup Series full time. The so called road course ringers that only come to run that one race never amounted to much of anything in the Cup series.

FTR, I have no problem with a road course in the chase.

After witnessing the backlash that guys like Papis and Villenueve receive after being "involved", I'd definitely say that Stewart, for example, causing a wreck at Talladega would not be seen quite as harshly as one of the aforementioned drivers taking Earnhardt (another example) out of contention with 1 or 2 races to go, on a road course. Not even close, IMO.

But they're usually backmarkers when they run in Sprint Cup.

If they take out a title contender, I seriously doubt that title contender's fans will take that under consideration before unleashing hellfire :)

Remember the reaction to Villenueve taking out Patrick? Just imagine if that was Jeff Gordon on the verge of winning a 5th championship  Not good, my friend, not good at all.

What are the chances of them even being a factor? Villeneuve wouldn't be anywhere near a championship contender, all race. Robby Gordon and Wally Dallenbach are the only ringers who have ever been factors in the last 20 years. And even then, Robby was a series regular and Wally spent plenty of time in the Cup Series.

My point is, it could happen and the reaction would be measurable on the Richter Scale:D
