Hendrick responds to GM Announcement: Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and chairman of Hendrick Automotive Group, today responded to the announcement by General Motors that it will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection: "After all of the efforts of the past several months, it's unfortunate that bankruptcy has become the only option, therefore we at Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports are compelled to also resort to a re-structuring. Starting immediately, Hendrick Automotive Group will begin converting all of it's 27 General Motors franchises to Ford Motor Company franchises. As a result our customers can expect the same high level of care and service that our dealerships have always provided. From a racing perspective, our heritage with General Motors can no longer continue. In 25 years together, Hendrick Motorsports has won eight Sprint Cup Series titles with Chevrolet, unfortunately Chevrolet can no longer continue the level of backing and technical support necessary to effectively assist teams at the NASCAR Cup level . Since I was a kid, Chevy has represented the highest level of performance. I've never wanted to race anything else, and I have every confidence that, together with Ford Motor Company we will continue to celebrate victories together for many more seasons to come. Speaking for the more than 6,000 teammates at Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports, it has been a great privilege to be a small part of GM's rich history, but we are looking forward to an even brighter future with Ford Motor Company." Effective immediately Hendrick Motorsports will temporarily partner with Roush Yates Engines until the transition to Ford is completed. Hendrick Motorsports drivers were not available for comment. PSYCH!!!

psych:
To announce that you have been fooled, or some one has made a joke. Almost like saying 'just kidding', only with more attitude. (was very popular in the 90's)
To fool someone. To pull a prank.

I am certainly glad I looked at the entire post.

I was going to say BS! :D

:D The reason I thought this up and posted it was because my buddies that I go to the races with are Gordon, Jr. and Johnson fans. They have been ribbing me about my driver in the 99 not getting to victory lane yet this year (they hassle me because I'm a Kyle Busch fan, too).
I emailed it out and my phone started ringing, my email Inbox started filling up, etc...:growl:
I thought I was going to have to resuscitate one of 'em.

I knew it wasn't true because I already saw Nascar Now and they had a Statement from Rick. :D:p:D:p:D

Ok so what exactly will Chevys' level of commitment to racing be next season and the rest of this season for that matter. There must be money not being given out, factory support being scaled back in all this bankruptcy filing that occured yesterday. Isn't that part of the restructuring plan or am I totally off base here? Are the teams in all three divisions not touched by this at all?

we will have to wait and see how the restructure effects gm's racing budget. i haven't seen or heard anything from gm regarding it. it's all conjecture until something actually happens.

Whatever Jeffy drives I'd be for him. LOL You know what I drive.

I hear ya! I've driven a lot of pieces of crap, well usually because we drive them into the ground. My hubby is driving the Cobalt because he has the long commute. I'm driving the 10-11-yr-old Dodge Grand Caravan. Before that I had a Ford Taurus bought used after my USED Ford Contour was totaled by an idiot in a Suburban who pushed an F150 into the back of me.

I have all these Chevy racing stickers and a new Jeffy sticker since all my ones came off from scraping snow in the winter, but it feels weird to put Chevy racing on a Dodge or maybe not! :)

I knew Rick wasn't switching. His Charlotte dealer keeps calling & emailing me! That's what I get for entering a contest! LOL

I heard GM was not going to be cutting back on its support for NASCAR at least this year. Think about it - look at all the advertising they get every weekend with those cars on the track! Way more than a 30 sec. commercial.

Besides, Rick has all kinds of dealerships besides Chevy. He could pick any one of those. Can't you just hear, "Well, the Lowes Acura (or Porsche) was great today." :D
