Hendrick responds to GM Announcement: Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and chairman of Hendrick Automotive Group, today responded to the announcement by General Motors that it will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection: "After all of the efforts of the past several months, it's unfortunate that bankruptcy has become the only option, therefore we at Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports are compelled to also resort to a re-structuring. Starting immediately, Hendrick Automotive Group will begin converting all of it's 27 General Motors franchises to Ford Motor Company franchises. As a result our customers can expect the same high level of care and service that our dealerships have always provided. From a racing perspective, our heritage with General Motors can no longer continue. In 25 years together, Hendrick Motorsports has won eight Sprint Cup Series titles with Chevrolet, unfortunately Chevrolet can no longer continue the level of backing and technical support necessary to effectively assist teams at the NASCAR Cup level . Since I was a kid, Chevy has represented the highest level of performance. I've never wanted to race anything else, and I have every confidence that, together with Ford Motor Company we will continue to celebrate victories together for many more seasons to come. Speaking for the more than 6,000 teammates at Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports, it has been a great privilege to be a small part of GM's rich history, but we are looking forward to an even brighter future with Ford Motor Company." Effective immediately Hendrick Motorsports will temporarily partner with Roush Yates Engines until the transition to Ford is completed. Hendrick Motorsports drivers were not available for comment. To announce that you have been fooled, or some one has made a joke. Almost like saying 'just kidding', only with more attitude. (was very popular in the 90's)
To fool someone. To pull a prank.
