Folks....... This has been a long time coming.

I have..... for the sake of all men, consumed massive quantites of canadian whiskey. And I have expended many hours of thought, brain power, and cigarettes. Ok. And I have endured many hours of my whife bitchin at me because IM a NASCAR liver.

Anyhows, here we go.

I as of sound mind and body see the sport going only one way. UP. No matter if or not the BRUTON repaves or paves, no matter what Mayfield smokes, no matter what clint does to Jimmie, I will be a fan of full fender racing. This is the way it is meant to be. Sparks. Flat tires. PIST off drivers and Crew Chiefs.

There is no other that raises my hairs. No other that makes me jump up and shout so loud. NO other that evokes such a feeling of victory, loss, sadness, or happiness.

Though my driver will walk through the valley of dumbasses,
I believe he shall fear no moron, no flat tire, no loss of GRIP
He will win the race. I believe in him. He is my man. He will win. I know he will!

This is why I watch.
This is what I live for.
Give me the next race, or give me death.

Anybody else ready for TEXAS? ;)

Yes. I really don't give a **** about the shape of the track, how many people show up to the race or what part of the country it's in - I'm just ready for Kenseth to dominate another round at Texas :D

First, I need to compliment your whiskey fingers for calling you a 'NASCAR LIVER' after that opening sentence. ;)

I love this post. It took you a week, but I knew you would get there.

"Though my driver will walk through the valley of dumbasses, "

lol Great stuff.

NASCAR is my main obsession. My life would be less enjoyable without it. And being able to share all of it with my kid is awesome.

Moejoe, bravo. There is nothing like the feeling one gets when a favorite is leading the race near the end and then disaster. We have witnessed this time and time again, but I think the biggest, well maybe not quite the biggest, but surely one of the biggest times this happened was when Earnhardt the senior was leading the Daytona 500 and looking to win his first when a flat tire takes it all away on the last lap. I can still see people whooping and hollering on that last lap, and then, the smiles went away. On the other hand, those that were ABE's also got a big change of emotions.

There is NOTHING in sports more nerve wreaking than watching your driver lead the race on the final laps. So much can (and often does) go wrong that can ruin things. I don't even get excited until they are within sight of the checkered flag.

My favorite was last year's World 600. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. :XXROFL:

Sigh I'm having bad flashbacks to Dover 2004 and Homestead 2003

cant wait for Texas saturday night. going to try and make it to the november race there.

Texas seems like a cool place to see a race. I'm looking forward to watching the race on Saturday night. I don't know any so many here seem to hate that place.

Dover 2004 was a great race. Kasey did get robbed but it paved the road for a Mark Martin victory!

Homestead 2003 was a tough one too, Bill cut down a tire on the backstretch on the last lap while leading his final race in his final full time season. On the otherhand it was the last time Bobby Labonte won.

THAT was classic!! LOL Thanks, Andy!! I loved Mama's "effen turn it off" line!

I don't know why either! I have attended several races at TMS and it's a fabulous track!! Saturday Night under the lights will be great! And the infield party after the race will be effen INSANE!!! lol

I am disappointed that I won't be there but the Long Beach Grand Prix is the same weekend and I have never missed one in 36 years. (does that make me seem old? Hell, I AM old! lol) But my buddy who lives in the DFW area decided he would rather come to California, which is OK with me!!!

I stayed at the hotel across the street from the track last summer, horrible cell reception in the parking lot.

I haven't missed a single Baltimore Grand Prix! :) Some of the worst NASCAR races are better than most IndyCar street races but the atmosphere is second to none. I'd take the Baltimore Grand Prix over any NASCAR race, except maybe Martinsville, anyday.

The IZOD Series does not match up to the days of Formula 1 at Long Beach - that's for damn sure!!
But you are right, Andy! The Long Beach Grand Prix is an EVENT, first and foremost!

And if the sun is out, the skin is on display - and it pays to have mirrored sunglasses!

...if ya catch my meaning, if ya get my drift...

There was lots of eye candy walking around at the Baltimore Grand Prix. But that's just another day in Baltimore. :growl:

Why hold back? Ride the roller coaster. I enjoy being on edge waiting for the white flag. The last lap is usually wind down time, but not always.

I am usually standing in my living room with my hands covering my mouth and nose while shifting from one leg to the other.

OK, so your excited, but you try to avoid getting your hopes squashed. I'm the same. I get excited, but I'm saying to myself "Wait...wait....". When he takes the white, that's when I jump.

Jr fans have it rough. They are required to soil the furniture as soon as he takes the lead, no matter what lap. ;)

You should come to my house for a race, you WILL leave with more grey hair than you entered with.

Exactly. I yell at the TV when stuff goes well and I curse up a storm when "tragedy" strikes. These Cup races are such a big deal to me. Probably too big of a deal. But hell, man, I'm glad I have something like racing to focus on. Between family, school and work I need that escape.

IF one has hair to begin with, that is... lol

I agree with you 100%! My Sunday (or Saturday Night) revolves around the drop of the Green Flag. I will make sure that I have coffee (if it's an early start) and beer (or other libation) at the ready so that I can focus on the action.

Nothing beats the experience of being at the track, sitting near the entrance to Turn One, and getting a whiff of the unburnt hydrocarbons being emitted from 43 850HP monsters as they ramp it up for the start of a race.

But if I cannot be at the track, my 50" TV and surround sound system will suffice.
I just need a Smell-O-Vision option to go along with the telecast!
I am excited just thinking about it!!
