Here We Go!

I was really shocked they didn't throw a mystery caution, especially with the next 3 guys, Edwards, Gordon and Bowyer all trying to get their first win. David looks a bit like Ray Romano lol I don't mind David but I can't root for anything to do with Michael Waltrip racing, I can't stand him.

The reason there are so many empty seats is because if Chicagoland did what they did last year, you have to buy a package of tickets which includes the nationwide, cup, truck and indy car races. They wouldn't let me buy just the cup race last year. It's an awful move on the race tracks part as I'm sure they would have sold more tickets if they just let people buy tickets to the race they want to see, especially cause people might not be able to afford all 4 races, especially if people are trying to bring their family.

Your just upset Michael is turning out to be a better car owner than he was a driver.

I got bored with the race and went onto youtube to listen to some live video clips of 80s bands. I'm amazed with all the live band clips that are up on that site.

I can agree with that. :)

Michael NEVER was a good driver. My mom could win a plate race (at the time) in a DEI car. DEI had the cha-cha in a plate program when Sr. was alive. How many wins has Mikey had since Sr. died? Hell, he can't even make it home without runnin it off in the ditch...Sure he makes a better owner.

I don't care if he is a good owner or not, I still can't stand the guy.

Of course he was a good driver......not a GREAT driver but good.

And you want to talk down Two Daytona 500 wins?...give the guy some credit even if you think DEI had a supposed advantage at [plate races??....whatever

And as an owner in these economic times, he's moving forward with sponsors who dont seem to mind his driving legacy...funny that....Mikey seems to know who butters his bread

I disagree, IMO, he was never even a good driver. Back-of-the-pack finisher until getting in a DEI plate car. What has he won since???????????????

I believe he has all 4 wins in cup after Dale Sr passed....

So did Richard Childress

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Waltrip

Waltrip was hired by Dale Earnhardt, Inc. to drive their new #15 NAPA Chevy entry. In his first race with the team, the 2001 Daytona 500, Waltrip broke a streak of 463 consecutive Cup races without a victory and won his first career points-paying Cup race. After the death of his boss Dale Earnhardt in a crash on the final lap of the aforementioned race, he did not have another top-ten finish until the Pepsi 400, and finished 24th in the standings. The next season, he picked up his second career win at the Pepsi 400 at Daytona and moved up to fourteenth in the standings. Throughout 2003, he won a career-high two races including his second career Daytona 500, and ran in the top-five for most of the season before falling back to 15th in points. Of trivial note, Michael Waltrip won the first three races at Daytona on Fox (2001, 2003 Daytona 500; 2002 Pepsi 400) with Waltrip's brother Darrell in the broadcast booth.

I stand corrected. But.......4 wins in 762 starts does not make him a good driver. He has more DNF's than he does top 10's.

He had an average finish in the points of 22.92 in 25 yrs. It's hard for me to call a guy good with those numbers.

Like him or not..... MWR has come a long way in such a short time. Great to see a David Reutimann victory IMO. Eight different winners so far this season. Hopefully some of the Roush bunch can get something going to add to that list. Speaking of which..... If someone asked you which owner would win first this season Roush or Waltrip..... How many of you would have picked MWR? That had to have been like a knife to the heart of ol' Jack yesterday. :D

I actually think Michael Waltrip may turn out to be a good car owner. Being a successful driver doesn't translate into being a succesful owner and vice versa. Bobby Allison, Cale Yarborough, and Richard Petty to an extent were not successful car owners. Richard Childress was a mid-pack driver. No one expected him to be as successful a car owner as he turned out to be when he quit racing and let others drive his car.

Jack will accuse him of soaking his tires....
