Busch aint comin back to the busch series, why not take their place? Probably cheaper then sponsoring the cup car...

the NASCAR Nextel Cup series and NASCAR AT&T series..... :bounce: ;) :D :p

i would bet that Nextel has it in their contract that would prevent them from taking over the naming rights to any other nascar series.

Besides, no way in he** would Nascar do a deal with them.

yea they would...all AT&T would have to do is show them the money....if their contract with Nextel allows it.

nascar will do anything for money.

Sprint/Nextel can't control anything that Nascar does in ANY of it's other series. If you remember, Nascar told AT&T they were welcome to sponsor a Busch Series team with no problems at all.

Speaking of ticked off, I don't imagine AT&T are liking this right now...

Armed with a soldering iron and a large supply of energy drinks, a slight, curly haired teenager has developed a way to make the iPhone, arguably the gadget of the year, available to a much wider audience.

George Hotz of Glen Rock, N.J., spent his last summer before college figuring out how to "unlock" the iPhone, freeing it from being restricted to a single carrier, AT&T Inc.

What I wondered is, why is the "Alltell" car allowed to run? It that one under the "grandfather" clause?

Yup.....RCR can run Cingular on their car all they want to...but since Cingular was bought out by AT&T and the car has to be rebranded...Nascar and Nextel say they cant do that.

I would assume the same thing would happen to the Alltel car if Verizon or someone else bought Alltel.

All though Nextel can change its name with no problem.

Just to be accurate, Cingular wasn't bought out by AT&T. AT&T owned Cingular all along.

So it isn't even about buying out. It's simply about a name change. Nascar says the grandfather clause only applies to the name/brand that was grandfathered. AT&T challenged that based on the wording of the clause and the court just said that AT&T can't challenge the wording because AT&T wasn't a party to the grandfather clause. You have to be in a contract to sue on the language of the contract. Third-parties can't do that (under most circumstances).

If Alltell tried to change its name, for any reason, it would likely be in the same situation.

Sprint was not in the wording of the grandfather clause, so Netel should not be able to change there name if they go by their own rules.
