Hey BooBoo

Hey, Tabasco!

Do you really think we'll be rained out? I've got plans for Monday and will miss the race (live) if it is postponed until then. :( Better not happen!!

In any case, I'm making pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw and homemade kaiser rolls. That's about it, because that's work (and food) enough! :D

boo, can you pull some chicken too, just for the kat?

What dressing do you make for the slaw and does it have l'onion as Justin Wilson woule say??

TRL, I think she is pulling our leg. She puts out a great spread every week, but no one can prove she did it. :p Someone needs to go up there and do a surprise inspection.:) Sounds good as usual, BooBoo

Come on up, TRL! But the ribs are for Richmond. (I'm a big fan of alliteration. :D ) Ribs and macoroni and cheese, that is.

If you're heading over too, Kat, I'll try to pull some chicken for you. To be honest, though, I've only ever pulled...well, you get the idea. :p

Tabasco, go ahead and send your spies! They'll find nothing but Christmas lights, Hank Williams, and a smoky 1st floor apartment!! The last time I smoked something on my stovetop (sadly, the only way I can do it here), I put a warning sign on my front door, "DON'T WORRY...SMOKING PORK RIBS". That staved off the inevitable knock on the door pretty well. Think I'll do it again! :)

I don't know what I would do without my smoker. I never used it in the house though. I smoked a ham last weekend. I couldn't live without a backyard either.

abooja, what about the dressing for the slaw?? I LOVE ONION even in carrot salad.

Tell me about it. This is barely living, as far as I'm concerned. What could live in cement? But I won't let that stop me from trying to cook the things I like. The smoker will work well enough, as long as I'm careful.

Gardening, now that's another story... :uhmnotsur

Oops, sorry Kat...missed that question.

The slaw dressing is really simple: some of the vinegary barbecue sauce and mayonnaise. Purists will say to omit the mayonnaise, but I'd rather not. I guess, if I wanted to make it a true South Carolina pulled pork sandwich, the dressing would have mustard in it instead. Don't know about all that... :uhmnotsur

This one's supposed to go with this particular pork recipe. It's from Bon Appetit and I've made it before, so I know it's pretty good.

But do you have a recipe you'd care to share? :D

Believe it or not, my fave is from the Good Housekeeping cookbook, but I mess with it. NEEDS ONION JUICE, and grated onion. AND CELERY SALT!!!!

NO MAYO!!!

Hmmm, I've got onions...and celery seeds. Maybe I can improvise. I'll look into it... :D

Forget the salt, just mash up the seeds into powder:D and you don't need much:D

And you've tried this particular concoction on pulled pork?

Or does it matter? The folks who wrote this recipe seem to think it does. I'll give it a shot, what the hell...

NO, NO, NO

SLAW as in coleslaw, not pork or chicken....SLAW

I understand you're talking about slaw!! Just wondering if you've tried it on top of pulled pork, because that's the only reason I'm making it. I made a different type of slaw a couple of weeks back to go with the fried catfish, and it contained celery seed too. Wanted to try something different for the pork sandwiches. Know what I mean?

Yikes, it's already almost midnight! Time for Trackside...

Catch you tomorrow, Kat! Maybe you'll be a pal and give me your recipe? :uhmnotsur :D

Goodnight, everyone!

Okee Dokee, but I have topped dogs with it and mmmmmm.

We don't have "hot dog" rolls here, just buns. I like the soft sided ones that you can butter and grill. Here, none.

I cannot get a lobster roll or a clam roll since I moved from RI.

I used to (YEARS AGO) eat those, and make them at home too.
