Hey dirtguru..

You going to Ace Friday night.... I'm extremely excited this track's racing after all the offseason turmoil.
No I'd love to but had already made other plans. Would like to make a few trips there this year, good track to take the grandkids. Might want to take an umbrella, sounds like we may get some storms tonight. Probably going to wash out my plans for tonight too.

If you ever make it out, let me know and if I'll be there, I'll buy you a ticket. I'm glad Brad's still running the place, he's a good guy who's in the sport for all the right reasons.

Hey can't beat that, I'll try to make it down there a few times this year. Never seen a race there that I was disappointed with, always been a good nite of racing.

It's a badass track. All the Friday night tracks put on a good show. Ace, Southside, Kingsport, Potomac (Maryland).

Hey Andy, how was the racing at Ace? Do they seem to be holding it together and drawing in the cars as well as they used to? My son and I were talking this morning about making arrangements to make a trip down there soon.

Car counts were lower than average but that was to be expected since they're not sanctioned by either NASCAR or ASA. The racing was still excellent. Dustin Rumley won. The field, in every class, was extremely competitive. Good show all around. Even if Ace only had four cars, they'd still put on one of the best races around.

Rodney Cook was the honorary starter. Not sure if you've been keeping up with him but he's been battling cancer. Story on that is on RACE22> http://race22.com/2013/03/the-race-of-his-life/

It was great to see him there. The fans received that well. All in all, seemed like everyone was just glad to be at the track after all the offseason bull**** and were glad that Rodney Cook is being honored in person instead of in a "Rodney Cook Memorial".

The PASS South race at Southern National was one of the best races I've ever seen. Definitely in the top five in terms of races I've attended.

I think the car counts will pick up though. Sounds like Brad Allen's being given more freedom to do his thing out there without the track owner resisting him. Brad Allen's one of very few people in racing who gets the respect of the racers while putting on a great show for the fans. It's extremely tough for a track manager/promoter to satisfy both the racers and the fans but Brad manages it.

Hate to hear about Rodney Cook. I've seen him race many times. I'll be praying he can beat he cancer again.
I had been keeping up with some of the things that were going on there on Local Race Chat.com . Glad to see that Brad Allen is back. Love the track there, it was a great track even back in the 80's when it was dirt. Nice to have a track that runs on Friday nights and can put on a good race like they do. I think it's a better track to watch a race at than Bowman Grey, Shame they can't get the car count that BG gets, that would make it a really great track. We are going to try and take in some races there this year. They used to have a race or two each year for the dirt cars that I enjoyed I hope they'll do that again this year. Everyone seemed to like seeing the left tire lifting of the ground when they came off the turns. I know that some of the regulars there used to race dirt. Back when I used to go to 311 Speedway every Saturday night I've seen many of them race on dirt. But the older I get it seems the more the dust bothered me so now I mostly attend the paved tracks. But wether its dirt or pavement there nothing better than seeing some good racing.

Dustin Rumley, any relation to Johnny Rumley(old Hooters Pro Cup driver)?
I'm not positive but I kinda think he is. Johnny used to run a black no. 8 and Dustin runs a black 88. I wonder if he is related to the Rummley (Kevin and Leeroy) that build those fast dirt cars.

Another great race at Ace. Dean Fogleman won the LMSC race - was an absolute barn burner between he and Rumley. Rumley did everything he could short of dumping Dean to win the race.
