How soon you forget.

They are too afraid to lose their access to the oil. Yet they accuse us of acting on greed.

Well we don't need them , we don't need Nato either, or The UN, we can go at this with the Brits and take care of what needs to be done. This will only hurt the French down the road when they start crying for help from us, Busch or who ever is in office will not take them seriously, to me this is "cutting of your nose to spite your face" as my dad used to say. I firmly feel all this bickering in the UN is a joke, what good is the UN to the US. if we are going to do what we want to do anyway? What good is Nato if they can not agree on the right things to do? The United States will always have to be the policeman of the world, stand on our beliefs, our morals, and our standards to make the world a better place. To some that might be considered world domination, but when you come down to it what other country has the ability to do what we can do? What other country can police the world and make it a better place? If we have to be disliked by a few to make this world a better place....i say ...so be it! I for one am proud to live here and couldn't imagine living anywhere else!

Yeah bailed them out in WW1 & WW2. I have an Uncle buried over in France now. Then they turn tails and run. Makes me a little angry. :dual9mm:

this post touched my heart
i have family that died for that country
i now consider france a terrorist

Paul and I talked about this earlier.....it is a strong post. I sent it to a buddy of mine who was in Mogadishu, right after the "Blackhawk Down" incident. He said that we should go get our fallen Brothers and bring them back home....where they belong.

First off I think we are being alittle dramatic here. And yes I've had a couple family members die over there. And if your going to use WW1 and WW2 as examples of us helping them, why hasn't anyone said anything about the French help this country received against England? Or even the Statue of Liberty?

Yes, I don't agree with France. Yes, I think Oil is part of the reason. All France has done is disagree with the US over the Iraq situation. they haven't vetoed anything. And as Mccain said this morning, he'd be very surprised if they did. So I find it alittle insulting that over this disagreement (atleast at this point) my family members deaths are being brought into this.

First off, maybe offensive is a bit strong. And to this point all France has done is disagree with us. To me bringing this into the current problem is a disservice to those who died. They died for a cause, and it wasn't a cause trying to link Iraq to Bin Lauden. If France and Germany have their fingers in Iraq, I will be pissed too. But I want prove of such actions before I get upset.

I don't really disagree with the war or looking into France and Germany. What I disagree with, is how they are trying to tie and link things together. For me, if Bush went after Osama and then turned to Iraq and said we're going to bomb them for not following the rules, then I wouldn't be questioning some things.

Sorry, but that's just not the case. They are all but disbanding NATO by refusing to allow Turkey to be defended...I don't see how that is just "disagreeing with us". The 16 other NATO countries can't believe their actions either.

They demand we play ball with the UN, but sit back and screw over NATO. Different rules for them I guess?

I don't agree with them obviously. However I fail to see how we act any differently. Does Bush really care about NATO or the UN? We're going to do whatever we feel like anyway, right? So I fail to see a difference for those reasons. We're on the same side here, I just question us more.

Side note: When I said offensive may be a bit strong, I was reffering to my own feelings on the matter.

Yep either way Bush is going into Iraq, which will uncover a lot of.... that France and Germany don't want the general population to know about. The way i see it the UN will be pretty much obsolete in 5-10 years and Nato will be re-organized or re-done to suit the Worlds' needs.

Which all could be very true. And if thats happens, I think that proves my point.
