Has there ever been a NASCAR race where the leader was the only car on the lead lap?

Was talking with some buddies last week and someone brought it up,and i fugured i would ask here.

yes! In fact many times that happened!

I believe someone won @ Darlington bye 14 laps one time! That could have been Ned Jarret

& Richard Petty won a lot of races a lap or more ahead of the feild

thanks--ive always watched but only became die-hard about 8 years ago and dont recall that ever happening

I think Richard won by 14 laps and I beleive someone has done it by more then 20 in the 60s and Jeff Burton led all 300 laps at New Hampshier when they put the restrictor palts on it in 2000 when both Adar Petty and Kenny Irwin both got killed there:(

Ned won the Southern 500 by 14 laps in 1965.

Numerous times the winner has been on a lap by himself. Much of that is because the blazingly fast pit stops of the earlier era often lasted for two or three laps.

i think Dale did it at bristol in the 80's....or he was when the last caution came out and I think Richmond mught have got back on the lead lap right before the finish.....there's my history knowledge...or lack there of...lol

Days by-gone now. You could "tinker" with the cars a bit more then ;)

In the Craftsman Truck Series, no cars finish on the lead lap.
