I just checked the weather for the race Sunday at Fontana!! Earlier this week they were calling for clear and temps in the upper 80's......prettty normal for the "Inland Empire" here in Southern California this time of the year. Yesterday they were saying lower 90's. That is gettring rather warm.......even for Southern California (Inland Empire or else where). Now they are calling for 97 degrees........that is upper 90's by anyone's standards!! :eek: Man, it's going to be hot in the stands if that last perdiction is correct!!

Yeah, I know, there's not much humidity out here........but 100 degrees in the sun is hot!! No matter 15% percent humidity or 70%!! And the sun is blistering here when it's that hot!! Oh boy, I hope the NWS missed this one!! :blink:
 
DEW, they was saying rain and in the 90s before i left for dega.

Saterday it was hot but not that bad got burnted......sunday chance of rain after 1pm (time the race was to state), had a light shower around 8 or 9 but the hevy stuff held off tell around 6 or 7pm
 
DE, better stock up on extra sunscreen and bunches of those cold packs you can buy at the local drugstore.

Y'all try to drink plenty of water too! Wouldn't want to see y'all get dehydrated!

Just imagine what it's gonna be like for the drivers....WHEW!
 
The race definetely isnt as enjoyable, if its that hot...

Last year when we went to Kansas Speedway for the Truck Series race in July, it was 108 degrees F, without humidity...
 
Yeah, coca-cola sold at like $5.00 a bottle and water sold at $4.00 and "the man" confiscated my drinks at the gate, for example a Powerade and a Gatorade when I went to LVMS.

Win-Win situation for the vendors and the tracks :angry:
 
i paid like $3.50 for a 20 ox pepsi at dega.........could not find coke anywhere. <_<

and like $4.00 for a 32oz cup of pepsi.
 
I frooze bottles of water and Ice Tea and carried them in in the little soft sided cooler CA Speedway alows. No problem getting in with them either, didn't have to buy any drinks while there. Well, I did get a coffee first thing this morning :D
 
I took in some Mello-Yellos and water when I went into Bristol this year. Saved me about 30 bucks just in drinks. :cheers:
 
We've never tried taking any drinks in..........I know they make you dump any beer you may have. :)
 
Hmmmm.........might have to dig out that soft sided cooler I have!! :)

Hopefully the track wont run out of water for the fans. I was at Dover's race which was the first race after Sept 11. and wouldn't you know it they ran out of water, but had lots of beer. Which of course is not as expensive as the water. It's too bad the tracks don't use their heads and stock up, instead of their pockets. :angry:
Hope you guys enjoy yourselfs today at the race.
 
well would tell you how i sneak my drinks into the race B) ................... but unfortunatly i have never been to a race. :angry: i live in the no race track state of minnesota. although stewart does race on a dirt track here every year. :) have to go watch that. just to say that i haveseen a nascar driver :lol:
 
It's hot here in central California already and it's just 11:00am...have windows and sliding door and all fans going.....not only the fans but our drivers are really going to be sweating today!
 
We sweated, but we survived!! :bounce: That good old bottle of Aqua Fina was still 3 bucks a 20 oz bottle........it didn't go up in price like gasoline!! :D
 
And guzzeled water and just kept on guzzlin!!!!! LOL
Boy!!!!! Was that ever tasty in that heat!!! We saw
the fire and rescue carry out 5 or 6 people from the stands
just laid out flat from the heat!!!! Sooooooooooooo thankful
we had our cold water!!!!!!!!!
DE W and Cutiepie, wew didn't even go up to our seats.
I knew this old one would prolly pass out from that heat!!!
Scares me, and I ain't afraid of much!! LOL

Thank goodness for that great big Jumbotron directly in frome of us!!!!!
They even ran out of those fruit chills in the afternoon!!!!!
I really wanted one of those lemon ones too!!! LOL
Great race, though, wasn't it Cutiepie????? :D :lol:

You should have gotten one before they ran out.........that was what I was eating we met you!! They are good and very refreshing. :D I got one the very first race we went to at California and I get one every year now!! It's just frozen lemonade, but boy is it good!! :D :D

I kept looking behind me up the seats for you and Eagle, but didn't see you.....when I made my thousandth trip down to get water or go potty..I didn't see you either, but then again.....I am nearsighted and blind as a bat,......but I sure was happy to have met you two...... :D :D :D

dragonlady i saw one lady put on a stetcher when we went to our seats....scary..........

Sure hope we can meet up again in the fall, I was really glad we got to meet. As you saw, I pretty much had a mental image of DE W LOL Still blows my mind how we met up there.

Awww, but it was the Dale Earnhardt shirt with the Jeffy ticket holder that gave me away!! :D You won't find me so easy in September..........I fixed that Jeffy ticket holder problem!! :D

I'm pretty sure we will be there Labor Day...........with a race like yesterday, who would pass up a change for a repeat? :cheers: :cheers:
 
I haven't posted here for a while. But anyhoo, my EMT instructor is the Field Supervisor at California Speedway. He is in charge of everything medical in and around the racetrack. I'll see if I can ask him how many people his crew had to treat due to the heat, though I'm not intirely sure he can discuss it.

I was there and oh boy was it hot. I swear by lap 8 I was drenched in sweat. You think this was bad wait until September. I don't care if it is a night race it will be hot. The Santa Ana winds that kick up that time of year won't be fun.

I want to know where they put the 3 big fan misters they had out during the Busch race. I couldn't find them at all on Sunday.
 
I sure didn't see any fan misters on Saturday either.
We were down real close to turn 4 and the Jumbotron again.
Saturday wasn't quite as hot as Sunday either.
I heard they carried something like 1000 roasted peeps out on Sunday.
Had people coming in to work off and on all day yesterday, saying "boy!!
" Your boy did good again didn't he"?

And heat in September?? Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, prolly, but then
again, ya never know in California. LOL
