Does anyone know what has happened to Home Depot this year? Did they just decide to cut back their NASCAR advertising? For years, Home Depot has been one of JGR's biggest sponsors if not their biggest. In fact, I thought that a key reason that JGR didn't re-sign Logano this year was because they wanted to get a more successful driver to represent Home Depot in the 20 car.

This year Home Depot has had barely any presence in NASCAR however, with just a small decal on the panel below the 20 car's rear deck lid. Meanwhile, Lowes continues to be the main sponsor of the 48 car as always and is certainly getting much more visibility on the track this year than Home Depot.

They did scale back the car a but this year by selling off some races to Dollar General. Also the races that HD are the primary sponsor they use it to promote their tool brand Husky. That is why you see Kennseth running a red car instead of orange.

Home Depots on the tail panel every week even when there's a different sponsor on the quarter panel. We all know that since 2008 our economy has been in tank and some of the hardest hit are the construction and home improvement business's. You can do doughnuts in a tractor trailer in both of my local HD and Lowes parking lots anymore, their like ghost towns in comparison to a few years back. I'm impressed Lowes has been able to continue signing the Big checks for JJ but worry how much longer they can continue.

As of 2011, Lowe's was doing better than at any point over the last decade. They blew a bunch of money on MyLowes last year and some more money on weak advertising campaigns, but the company is still doing extremely well in most regions and continues to grow. Home Depot decided to use their sponsorship dollars promoting their tool brand (Husky) because it's a big ticket item for the company and has been consistently outsold by Kobalt (Lowe's) year after year.

Yeah the parking lots are only 1/2 of what they used to be near me. And when I do go in they only have about half the staff they used to have. The worst part is they apparently got rid of the overnight shift that would stock the shelves, every time I go in there's anywhere from 5-7 aisles blocked off so they can do stock.

Lowes on the right side of the highway, Home Depot on the left. Lowes usually has twice the vehicles in their lot when I pass by. I prefer Lowes but it has nothing to do with a driver or nascar, I just like the service better.

My point is that I've noticed Kobalt Tools on the hood of Jimmie's car a lot more than previous years. I swear I just said that

Kobalt Tools are a house brand of Lowe's and essentially their first and most well known brand. They usually sponsor the car 6 races a year. I'm a Lowe's employee and retired from the National Guard....Guess my 2 favorite drivers!

Do they drive Fords ?:D

What people have said, plus I recall HD not wanting Kenseth to represent their brand. So they decided they wouldnt mind letting him represent their tools, and changed the scheme.

I find that odd . I thought Matt and Katie and family would represent the brand really well compared to Joey 'single guy'. What target market are the going for ?

I am gonna guess they wanted it to be a place for cool hip young people, not middle age rednecks.

Matt Kenseth is FAR from a redneck. Home Depot is the main reason Kenseth was brought in to replace Logano. Depot wasn't happy with how the 20 was performing and they pressured Gibbs to bring in a proven driver. Depot couldn't care less about how "hip" or "redneck" their driver is perceived; they want someone who can compete for titles instead of finishing 15 spots behind the #48 every race.

I think a top sponsor tries to get both . A driver that represents their company well and one who gives them positive exposure on the track. That was the whole knock on Kurt , nobody thought he couldn't drive , but that he couldn't represent the sponsor well.
