Home Theater Systems

I've got an entry level system. It's a Kenwood HTB-505. For the price, I continue to be very pleased with my purchase after many months of use. Nice solid unit. Throw in a DVD such as Fast And The Furious and listen to that subwoofer bang. For the price, this system does rock!

Speaker wires are chinsy (I upgraded them) but other than that, excellent value. I also invested in some nice speaker stands to get the speakers "ear level."

I'm sure others have much better systems. So let's hear about them or any advice members may want to share with others.

Just some speakers that I pipe the TV through using my reciever. I'd like to get a full on 5.1 surround sound system, but haven't the extra scratch at the moment.

I've been telling Julie for a long time that our TV and entertainment center is seriously lacking, she'll believe me one of these days.

I'll tell you Paul. I know there are guys with actual in house movie theater rooms and systems costing mega-bucks but for us poor people, with the addition of a decent DVD player (don't like everything built in one unit) it's money well spent. Such a difference.

Tell Julie "we need to upgrade!" :)

Have Pioneer XV-Htd520 5 dvd changer 500 w surround on the Phillips 60PP9352 wide screen, with the subwoofer out to an older 200w Radio Shack powered 15" sub.

This is connected to the computer via dvi cable. Wide screen gaming!!
Small window of the race on the computer's moniter, one click away from full screen and digital recording during wrecks. I can go back one frame at a time to see who really hit who.

On the computer I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruze 5.1 card connected to an older 500w Radio Shack dolby surround system and another 200w RS powered sub. I also have a frame and magnet from a torn 18" sub bolted and welded to the computer chair, it is powered by a cheap, distortionfull car stereo amp, it in turn is powered by a RS 40 amp 12volt powersupply that also powers all my computer, stereo rack, and personal cooling fans. That way the computer power supply only has to deal with the computer, no fans.

Needless to say, this house rocks on race day or movie night.

Ain't no use having all this if I spend raceday under a house replacing the facuets that froze and split during the winter.

Take your garden hose off for the winter. The anti-frost drain won't drain with a hose attached.
