Homestead to be reconstructed? Homestead may get reconstructed again AutoRacing1.com has learned from inside sources that a feasibility study has been done to tear up the flat turns at the Homestead oval and put in high banks after this years IRL race. The racing has been so boring there, even for Winston Cup, that something has to be done. This is the 2nd time the turns will have been torn up. The original track was shaped like a rectangle similar to Indy. It was then torn up and built to today's configuration. On a related note, did you know that ISC does NOT own the track? The city of Homestead owns it and ISC has a long-term lease to use it. Our moles also hear that the city may transfer ownership of the track to Miami-Dade County because the County does not have to pay itself property taxes on property itself owns.(AutoRacing1.com - need sub to read)(1-14-2003)
