Indy Car Inaugural Event

A little track history...

This will be the inaugural event for the IndyCar Series. The first time for the series at this track. This track was used by ChampCar from 1986-2007. Andretti Green Promotions purchased the assets to this race back in May, 2008 and Honda came aboard in September. This allowed the race to be part of the 2009 schedule.

There will be 4 former winners at this track in this race. Those drivers and the years they won are..

1. Paul Tracy - 1993, 2003
2. Dario Franchitti - 1999
3. Justin Wilson - 2005
4. Will Power - 2007

Now, Michael Andretti, Danica's race strategist won here 7 times. This will be a big help to her. Michael won here in 1989, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 2000, and 2001.

Hopefully, Paul Tracy will have better luck in Toronto than he did in The Glen. TK is pretty discouraged with how his season has gone so far. He keeps hoping something they come up with will get him running better. (He "Twitters.") ;)

Wow! What a crappy showing for AGR! Michael needs to shake things up a bit...maybe cut back to 3 cars? It seems like they're having a hard time making all 4 cars competitive each week. I hope PT has a good race.

Yeah, I was completely shocked that no AGR cars made any of the Fast 6. Tony Kanaan had a crash in the practice session this morning and they had to fix quite a bit of that car to get it back in racing condition. So, he had no time to practice with it, so that could of been a big reason he didnt make it.

What happened with PT? Stepped outside for a few minutes, and went from 3rd to out-of-the-race.

Here are the final results..

1. #10 Dario Franchitti
2. #6 Ryan Briscoe
3. #12 Will Power
4. #9 Scott Dixon
5. #18 Justin Wilson

13. #13 EJ Viso
14. #4 Dan Wheldon
15. #20 Ed Carpenter
16. #23 Tomas Scheckter
17. #11 Tony Kanaan
18. #3 Helio Castroneves
19. #15 Paul Tracy
20. #02 Graham Rahal
21. #98 Richard Antinucci
22. #24 Mike Conway
23. #06 Robert Doornbos

He and Helio had a little dispute over a little stretch of pavement. :p
And Helio was booed like no other. He said this is the first time that he's been booed. Don't think so, but he has had a resurgence in popularity.

My question, was that the real Paul Tracy? I mean I was looking for smoke coming out of his ears and ready to punch someone out. I guess age has softened him a bit. :)

Yes, that incident was a bummer. They both were having a good run. Im sure a top 5 for both.

I will admit that was very glad to see Helio booed. I am NOT a fan.

I, too, was waiting for the "real PT" to come out and give a comment. It may be age, but I'm thinking it's also his current job status. It's kind of sad, I loved the old PT...
