hopping in the drivers seat for the 1st time

so, my brother decided to build me a limited late model as my first car to race - and with his experience, it will no doubt be a FAST car.. It will be my first time EVER getting behind the wheel of a dirt track car - I've never even hot lapped.. The most experience I have with driving fast is many 140+ runs on the expressway in the vette (which I don't do anymore), and I was able to drift the vette on the normal streets rather well - so I think in general, my ability to handle a CAR is is pretty decent.. I can handle my cars in the snow and rain rather well doing nice controlled fish tails into parking lots...

Although, I'm no fool - I know a dirt track is a totally different. I'm a late bloomer, as I'm in mid 30's.. My bro's attitude is simple: get behind the wheel and go. He no doubt has alot of confidence in me....

I also was hooked on playing dirt track racing (the pc game) online for quite awhile, and knew how to drive d*** well in that game - but its still a f***** game... So I think I know the basics of driving on dirt - but nonetheless, still quite nervous about the first time hopping behind the wheel... hehe Climbing up a 400 foot desert tower scares me less.

So any advice, suggestions, educational crap, whatever would be appreciated. Are there any places in the midwest (chicago area) that do any type of formal or informal "bootcamp" to dirt track racing? I'd rather spin out and tear the sheet metal off someone elses car first :p

All a game will do to help you in hand eye cornadition.

Forget almost everything you know about driving a street car, just remember the basics, where the brake and gas are, and to use the sterring wheel.

On a street car you want to hug the turn, (go as low as you can) but in a dirt car you was to be hige wide and handsome, just run in the grove, not to high and get in the loose dirt, it will suck ya up to the wall everytime, or go so low you get your doors blown off every lap.

Just go out and have fun, thats what it is all about.
