Hornaday subs for sub Biffle

The original article reads as if Biffle will not be returning to sub in the #55 car for injured Bobby Hamilton. Then reads as if it may be for Dega only so the picture is a little unclear for races after this weekend.

Jayski wonders what prior Busch commitment could be since the BGN folks are off this weekend. Wonder if Jack doesn't want Greg in the Dega WC packs or if Ford and Chevy are applying pressure to keep the brand loyalty squared away. Or perhaps none of these.

From Jayski's blurb

Ron Hornaday will drive the #55 Andy Petree Chevy this week in Talladega. For the first time in two months, Petree will have two cars on the track at a Winston Cup event, thanks to 1-800-CALL-ATT and Kenny Wallace. Wallace, who will drive the 1-800-CALL-ATT #33 Chevy at Talladega, will be Hornaday’s teammate for a day. Greg Biffle [the sub in the #55 for the last few races], who has a Busch commitment [not sure what that is as the Busch Series is off this weekend] this week and was unavailable to drive for Petree at Talladega.

Why would Kenny Wallace be in the 33??? Isn't his full time ride the 23 now? What did I miss!

I think they meant Mike Wallace. He drove the car for them earlier.

If I had a drive going for the Busch Championship and I saw him take a hit in Cup this weekend the way Biffle did...hey out of the car!

When Mike got the ride in the 14, they asked Kenny to drive in Dega and he said yes. This was all before the Hut Stricklin ride became available. I don't know if it is safe to assume that Kenny will be in the 33 or not. We'll find out today when the entry list is released.

Kenny Wallace will be in the #33 at Talladega. The #23 was aware of that when they hired him. You might, MIGHT see Scott Wimmer in the #23 at Talladega. It wouldn't be a bad idea for Bill Davis to do that.

How does biffle subbing for hamilton affect his attemp for ROTY next year. Can he run more than 7 races this year?

Biffle mentioned it on the NBC broadcast last week. He said that he may have to drop a race or two in the 55 car to still be able to compete in the Rookie of the year contest next season!

And 'Dega would be a good race to drop --- so as not to risk injury.

Kenny did commit to the 33 before the 23 ride came available.

Dang, I'm getting confused again. Just when I thought I had silly season all worked out.

And, to add to the mess, Tommy Baldwin is out at BDR and Frank Stoddard is in! Immediately!

It is my understanding that Biffle can't drive more than 5 races this year in WC as it would then jeopardize his ROTY for 2003.

I believe that Biffle said in the interview that it was 7 races. He already had some cup races planned with Jack Roush. I think that is the other reason why Biffle has to back out of a few races with the 55 chevy car.

Roush may be using Biffle to learn more about the Chevy's by letting him sub in the 55 car!
