It worked!!:D Using Mandrake 9.0 instead of Windows ME and I'm online........yeeepeee!! One complete hard drive format and reinstallation of Windows plus partitioning a 20 gig hard drive and installation of a new Operating System.............and, of course the two days envolved, I'm here!! On Linux!!:D I'm sure not many give much of a sh** but I think it's neat.:) Now to figure out how to shut this thing down and reboot to Windows and see if that still works.:(
 
Well that worked pretty easy..........both systems work!:) This is ME..........the first was Mandrake.:)

I'm tired.........about 14 hrs playing with this damned machine and I'm ready for bed. Talk tomorrow.:)
 
WTG DE!! There's no way in hell that I could ever do it!! I'm one of those people that do good just to turn the darn thing on!
 
Hey Wrangler, keep us informed on how well Mandrake works when you load new programs or if there are any problems with some web sites.

I have Red Hat 7.2 on my machine at work. Finding programs for Linux and loading them sometimes was a real pain. Also, a lot of web pages didn't work well with Linux due to the extra plug ins Win 98 has. Loading some programs required me to roll up my sleeves and get into the operating system and move files ect.

Let us know if you experience any of these problems. I really like linux once you get used to it and would like to use it all the time. But Red Hat was not ready for that yet.

after you get comfortable with mandrake you should try another distro. I hate redhat (no offence to anyone) the last linux distro I used was slackware and it was the best distro I had expereince with, Debian is one of the best also.IMO

Anyway Congrats, I hope it goes well.
