Ah, that good old road down memory lane. I've seen this video many time and never tire of watching it. The cars I had in the 60's, 55 Chevy Belair 265 CI with three on the tree, converted to a Hurst stick, 56 Ford Vic 312 CI automatic and a 59 Chevy Belair 348 automatic (I told everyone it was a 409). The best one I had was the Ford. I could smoke the tires easily and often. But...I blew the engine one night on the way home from a date. Threw a rod completely through the block. Won't mention how fast I was going at the time.
Hot rods were always my dream. Some people would rather rebuild an old car as it was when it was made, but not me. I wanted a hot rod that had 1) a big loud V8 engine, 2) had very wide rear tires that could be made to squeal, and 3) turned the heads of every female, or male for the matter. In those days, squealing the tires was premo.
One thing I didn't see in the video... lake pipes. You old fahts know what those were. Oh and let's not forget 8 track audio systems, but if you didn't have that, a nice reverberator would be fine. I actually put in seat belts in my 56 Ford and the second one was in the middle of the front seat. Again, old fahts would understand.
Where did the time go?
