How did your college team do?

'Bama won against an undeafted to 25 team, but it didn't say too much. Southern Miss hasn't really played anyone so far. We'll find out what kind of a team we have next week....

And as much as it hurts, I'll give Auburn some props... <_<

The Sooners came back and defeated those rascally Wildcats of K-State who beat them for the Big 12 championship last year.

Go Sooners. :bounce:

Thats ok. KY Wildcats lost 12-7 anyways

YAY !!!!!

Never heard of who they played though ......

Clemson 35

Utah State 6

Another long day for the Man, JoePa. I never thought I'd say this, but he is becoming the Richard Petty of college football. :(

Might be time to find me another coach to root for. Someone of character, which rules out the Vols and the Bowdens. VA Tech is a possibility, that guy seems to be a quality human being as well as a good coach.

That is true. But we took down the Gators and Dawgs. Maybe we can do the same with Bama.

EMP, didn't I hear them say that JoePa had resigned his contract for a few more years? When Penn State joined the Big Ten, it ended what I thought was the ability have easier schedules. Anyway, they'll be back one day. They've got the reputation as a football school and that usually pays off.

well the 'cuse didn't lose this week. it probably helped that they didnt play. we've got a date with west virgina to battle it out for the swartzwalder trophy. ben swartzwalder was a west virgnia ww II hero and coached su to its only national championship in 1959. i think we're going to lose this game. after a close loss to florida st, im thinking theres going to be a big let down. anyway its more important for the conference if west va wins so they can head to the bcs bearth.

EMP, please, whatever you do, dont go to the hokies. they're a bunch of hypocrites that caused the whole acc/big east fiasco. if they had just been content to stay in the big east and win the conference every year and go to a bcs bowl, but no they had to go beg and plead with their governor to force virgnina to include them in the acc where they can go finish 4th or 5th in the conference every year...

if your looking for a good coach, coach p at su knows a lot about football but couldnt coach his way out of a paper bag. the guy down at west virginia(rich rodriguez i think is his name) seems like a pretty good coach. i wish su and penn st still played each other every year. it was a great rivalry.

USC Dominated folks. Gonna be tough to knock them off the #1 spot.

I didn't know the University of South Carolina was number 1 .......

Good deal !!!!!!! ;)

WI Badgers now 7-0.........way to go
Hopefully Stocco keeps learning and doesn't turn the ball over. If so, the badgers might just have that magical season.

My whole opinion on it has always been, in sports at the college level, there are really only three reasons someone roots for a certain team:

A) I graduated from that school;
B) I live in that state; and
C) I admire the coach.

In college, you have the athletes for four years tops. The coach is the one who stays around for a while, if he's any good. Now, I root for my alma mater. In time they will contend just like they did in Division I-AA. But not yet. MTSU will replace Vanderbilt in the SEC when Vandy finally abandons football altogether. Until then, they are in the minors. I can live with it, but that still leaves me in need of someone to root for in the big boy league.

Now y'all know I'm as Southern biased as they come. But because I attended a school in Tennessee that was NOT the University of Tenessee, I cannot root for the Vols. I know firsthand how unfairly state funds for public colleges were skewed toward a football team, and suffered from those lacks in funding. So they're out.

That leaves the coach. And I challenge anyone to name a more respected, cleanly run program who until recently was a perrennial contender than Joe Paterno and Penn State. He refuses to humiliate smaller schools because he feels for those players the same as his own. That my friends is class. I cannot recall any major NCAA violations involving a Joe Paterno led football team. When his players decide to become thugs (Ki-Jana Carter) he cuts them off the team on the spot. I respect that. The jerseys do not have the players' names, and no logo on the helmets, because Paterno said that they are coming to join my army, not become individual stars. I like that too. He's been known to whoop up on some Ohio and Michigan tail. I like that too. He has forgotten more about football than every coach in any conference COMBINED. (And judging from their record the past few years, he might wanna try and remember some of that knowledge...)

I don't know of another coach in the college game with the same principles, scruples, and distinction as Paterno. Hence, I root for him to do well. When he hangs it up, I'll need another coach to root for. Thus far, VA Tech's coach seems to me like a man of principle. I could be wrong.

I agree with everything that you said about Paterno. He was a great coach.

My recommendation to you is take a look at Al Groh at UVA. He is a good man and a good coach and will have UVA fighting for a National Championship in the next few years.....just give him a little time.

We have great athletic teams here in Charlottesville.

Well FSU beat down on uva, which Im glad they won. I like both teams though, and was hoping for a close competitive game.

Oh well looks like its going to be usc vs ou in the big bowl game. If auburn doesnt loose a game it will go to a bowl game with miami, if they loose it looks like another fsu vs miami bowl game.

Why is usc's schedule so easy, they had a great season last year they should have a more competitve schedule then they have.

First BCS standings are out. USC 1, Miami 2, OU 3.

Penn state is ranked 73rd I think...

For now, But miami has to play vt as their last game, I think it will be really close or they will lose. Either way OU will pass them, seeing as OU and USC have really easy schedules left (USC has had an easy one all year). I dont see how they could lose or have close games with any of those teams.

I don't think Vermont will have anything for Miami.

It depends which Brock Berlin shows up.

Louisville WAS ranked...

Don't misunderstand me here. I abhor Miami. I happen to be married to a U fan, but I have escaped the sickness so far.

I'd like to see what Auburn has against a top notch team like USC or OU or Miami. Whoopin up on the Vols ain't all that difficult. Phat Phil gonna choke a game or two every year, that's well established.

I thought Purdue might have something for 'em, but I guess not.

Oh, and NASCAR is still crooked... :p

Today is a BIG game for The Crimson Tide of Alabama . Tennessee Vols are a one TD favorite, I think. A big game around these parts.

Anyone know the final on Clemson and Maryland ????

OK .... I figured no one did !!!! <_<

Who are Clemson and Maryland, PS? :p No, I havent heard.

Bama and the Vols are playing right now,. Pretty safe to say what Fergy is doing.
