How did your team do in the NFL Draft?

I am a Browns fan and I have no clue as to how they did yet. They picked up a center from Notre Dame in the first round. He is supposed to be very physical and not too stable mentally (both good qualities for a lineman), but also a bit undersized in the trenches. I can't stand Notre Dame enough to watch even a quarter of one game so I really haven't seen much of the guy. They drafted a linebacker in the second round who according to espn.com isn't a very bright guy. They drafted a safety out of Marshall in the third round. He was a cornerback until his senior year when they moved him to safety because he lacked cover skills. Doesn't seem like a smart bunch of picks to me, but what do I know? ^_^

The Pats got screwed by the Jets. They were hoping to trade their two first round picks for the Jet's 4th overall pick. The Jets looked like they were ready to do it but turned around and did the deal with the Bears. The Pats were looking for Kentucky DT Dewayne Robertson but couldn't manage it.

They ended up getting Ty Warren (1st round), Eugene Wilson (2nd round) and Bethel Johnson (2nd round). Two defensive players and a WR. They needed something strong on defense and Robertson was it...too bad.

Dallas still doesn't have a QB. We got a corner that is supposed to be good in Terrance Newman. Hopefully Bill Parcells has something up his sleve for the season. Its not good to finish 5-11 3 strait years but you haved to be amazed with our consistancy.
I'll take a line from a cub's fan and say there's always next year.

The Browns needed several things more than they needed a center. But Butch Davis said they were going with the "best player available" approach. It seems to me if that were truely their approach they would have taken either Willis Magahee or Boss Bailey, both of whom were still available when the Browns selected Fain in the first round. A Left Tackle or a good cover-cornerback would have been a nice pick-up. Oh well, they did need some O-Line help and they at least tried to address it.

I was happy with the Browns draft. The linebacker, I believe was one of the top three in the draft for that position. I do not know anything about the db.

I'm sure Parcells has something planed for the QB position. I keep hearing a rumor about Tim Couch being traded to Big D. He has a lot of talent and just might flourish in the right system. He just keeps getting killed behind the Browns o-line. I don't think it is likely he will be traded there, but I can't see Parcells starting the season with Hutchinson as his starting QB.

Dallas's O-line isn't that great either. I hadn't heard that rumor though. That gives me some hope. Tim Couch would be pretty nice. He's a major upgrade over Quincy and Hutchinson.

Day two came and went without much to get excited about. Then again, guys like Terrell Davis didn't go until the 6th round and it turned out pretty well. The Browns did get a running back in the 4th round that was projected by Mel Kiper and his kind to go in the first round until he had knee surgery. Even after the surgery Mel said he would be a steal in the second round and the Browns got him for a 4th round pick. Not betting on either of the 5th through 7th round guys to be with the team a year from now. I was a little dissapointed in the Buckeyes draftees going lower than I would have thought. I thought Michael Doss would go higher, even though I have never been sold on his speed. Kenny Peterson was expected to go in the first round too, but they both fell to the second round, I think. Cie Grant went in the third round. Donnie Nickey lasted until day two and I think he is going to make someone very happy. He is a big-play guy who's hitting can change a game.

The 4th round pick I was refering to was Lee Suggs out of Virginia Tech. It came out yesterday that he also has a rotator cuff injury that will likely sideline him for the entire 2003 season. Still a good pick if you ask me. He has unbelieveable talent, but is injury prone. If he gets and stays healthy, he could be the absolute steal of the draft.

how did the St.Louis Rams do?
It is hard to say. They had eleven draft picks most of them compensatory and in the middle rounds. They picked up a huge defensive tackle with the 12th overall pick. His name is Jimmy Kennedy. He is 6-4 and goes 322 pounds. He showed up in college weighing over 400 pounds and had to really work to get a lot of that off. Concerns linger over him keeping that weight off. Could be a very big part of stopping the run. Will likely be a Tony Siragusa type of guy who ties up two blockers and really cloggs up the middle, making it hard to run up the middle against them. I think they could have gotten a better player with that pick, but then Mike Martz is a genius. Just ask him, he will be the first to tell you :p

I think you can put the Tim Couch rumors to bed. I would not have been overly disapointed if the trade would have happened, but I think it would have been a draft day trade. Also, because the Browns didn't draft a young QB to sit behind Holcomb, I do not think this trade will happen. I do not think you want to go into the season with Josh Booty as your only backup.

I think my steelers did a really really swell job Coach Cowher normally does a really good job in the draft. Like Antwaa Randle EL and Plaxico Buress two of the many good names he has drafted, not to foget 2001 Defensive Rookie of the Year Kendrell Bell

Well the Green Bay Packers made 9 selections in the draft getting pretty much defense selections. They got lineman, linebackers, and corner backs. They did fair in the draft this year, but they did about the best they could starting so late in the draft.

And the Steelers just got one of my friends from N C State, Dantonio Burnette who said he will hook me up with a few tickets when the Steelers play them Panthers in preseason

Well, as a rule I don't follow football too closely but this year I kinda checked on the draft. It looks like my Vikes picked up 1 or 2 defensive players (sorely needed) but then they also picked up at least one WR that I know of. I don't know that they are really hurting in that department, but who knows, maybe they are gonna dump Moss?
