Then what is the point of having a favorite driver or team then? Why watch competition sports? Why would I watch a football game and not really care who wins?

Why would I watch a sporting event that has 43 competitors in it and not cheer for someone? Do I get happy when I see a driver that I don't like go out of a race? Yep, sure do. But I get just as nervous for them as I do my favorite when they are involved in a wreck.

That's why its called SPORTS. Its a competition to see who is the best. And most normal people who watch a sport that they like will have a favorite...doesn't matter if its racing, football, baseball, or tiddley winks.

Imagine going to a boxing match and at the end. Nobody says anything. No clapping. No nothing. C'mon....

To be 100% honest!!
I was happy Biffle did nto make the race!! I was also happy to see Gordon Spin at the Rock and see him all banged up after his wreck sunday!

I agree whats the point of watching a race and rooting against other drivers!!

I dont have a problem with someone being happy because someone they dont like did bad. I think its a little goofy to stand up clap your hands and scream.

Personally No I don't celebrate when *someone has a bad day*, I do get happy if certain drivers dont win but they dont have to have a terrible day for that to happen.

I don't like to see jr win rp tracks, I was happy that he didn't won but I still felt sorry for him that he had to go through a bad day.

Just because you dont want drivers to have bad luck, dont mean your not competitive.

You like dale jr if jr were to win a race you would be happy, rather or not where dale jarret or jeff gordon places. (change those names with whoever you dont like)

Again to make myself clear, I dont find nothing wrong with rooting against another driver. I just think its stupid to stand up and act like an idiot to celebrate for it. Also wanting someone to not win and wanting them to wreck are two diffrent things.

Booing or cheering for wrecks are reserved for idiots....plain and simple!

It's called competition. Rivalry. NASCAR is a fan driven sport. No fans. No sport.

"I just think its stupid to stand up and act like an idiot" I still fail to see how you come to this conclusion.

I have always thought that the price of admission,[or just a consumer who buys the product of their favorite driver for that matter] granted one the right to cheer/jeer for whoever they choose.

That said,I think their is a difference between Jr.blowing a motor---in which case I shout with delight!---and Jr. barrel-rolling down the backstretch in obvious danger!

So I cheer when mis-fortune affects my non-favorites.....but not when they are in danger. And I really think the majority of fans are the same way.At least I hope so. :(

Call me an idiot then. As soon as I saw Gordon spin I had a smile on my face.

It's ok to smile and be happy, but I think it is classless to boo or cheer misfortune. Just shows that you are way too concerned about someone that you despise.

I think the majority are 97.

Hey 97,not changing the subject of the thread, but did you see my post on the chat board to TWF? You're setting in the cat-bird seat, got any more info to add?

Or are you an Awbun fan? :D

Here he goes again. Same song and dance. Different thread.

Ya know, I clap and cheer when the driver I root against wrecks or spins on short tracks, cause ya ain't gonna hit to hard. I don't think most people were cheering when they saw Newman's flip because they weren't sure if he'd be alright. What about Bodine's flip in the trucks? Where they cheering for that? I'd rather see the driver I root against behind the wall due to engine problems or whatever anyday than to see him flipping down the backstretch at 'dega.

Again Wanting someone to lose and wanting them to wreck, are two different things. Dont see why you have to do both to be competitive.

You don't have to root for john to wreck for joe to win, joe can win without john wrecking.

How come it's ok to compare NASCAR to stick and ball sports all of a sudden? We all know it's nothing at all like other sports.

I dont know about you , but I like to see everyone running well when my driver wins.

Unlike micheal waltrip at daytona I care how drivers get there wins.

Like paul said if he has the skill he can pass him.

Which part didn't you understand?
I'm guessing that you're talking about my first post......

I just made a comparison saying that why would I watch a football game and not cheer for my favorite team.....

Don't see how I compared it to NASCAR though......just giving an example of why you should have a favorite.

But Smacky changed his first post after I responded...he had something to the effect that he couldn't understand why people didn't like other people even if you didn't know them and some other stuff....maybe it made more sense then.

Joe can "pass" him...p-a-s-s. PASS.
true...T-R-U-E.

But if that driver who Joe is behind is someone like Dale Jarrett at Michigan a few years ago, when he pratically lapped the field, you kinda hope a tire goes down or he runs out of gas.

You can't tell me you have never felt like that.

You're right...that editing might have made me misunderstand the whole deal...

My foot is starting to lose it's flavor.

Just do what I do before posting.....

Sprinkle some salt on it...it helps the taste. :D

Fergy Just so you know

I didn't change it because of your post afterwords, actually I didn't even see your original post. I changed it because when I first posted, it was just a responce to you, then I saw the other 2 post and thought of some changes I wanted to make.

I cheer like heck when gordo, the adulterer smacks the wall. I think it is Gods way of getting back at him for being used to help spur his meteoritic rise to fame.

LOL. I responded to this thread _____________! I see gmcbreadtrk may be your new mentor. :p

I need to make this clear, real clear. I don't want to see ANY driver get hurt, not even Jeff.

I do however really would enjoy a nice multi barrel roll down the back stretch, just a few rolls, you know enough to scare the crap out of him. Hopefully that freak him out and then he wouldn't be so damn good.

Good night.

How are things in your glass house these days? Seems like it might be kind of chilly this time of year.

You have never , ever, seen me thank God for my extraordinary posting ability.

I have also never, ever been an adulterer either.

So you are saying that he should not praise his Creator when he achieves success? Or is it that a guy who is trying to live his life by a higher standard isn't allowed to make a mistake (if in fact he did cheat on her). We don't know all the facts nor will we ever. But even if he did, I don't see how that makes him any less of a driver.

I also missed the part about where we are his judge. It is none of my business.

Always grabbing at straws when they should be reachin' for trophies! :D

I don't pay a $1000.00 a year for my tix at BMS and have any one tell me i can't cheer or yell when someone i don't like has a bad day, as long as they don't get hurt. do not want anyone to go through what DE fans had to go through.
