I'm for the pool on caution laps, maybe I can make a little beer money. :D

I didn't check any of them.....it is duller than it has been in years IMO.

Too funny, windsor!

It was a hard choice, but I finally went with what I've experienced the most...that pitching practice. I've sent most everything not nailed down across the living room at least twice this season.

I went with #7. Here lately it keeps me interested to see what happens next

Gosh,

I guess that I must be a real old timer. I can remember when folks actually went to the races because they felt the races themselves were exciting.

If the race finished under caution, they accepted the fact that things like that happen on occasion. Nobody started throwing things over the fence onto the track.
Other folks in the area would have beat the offenders senseless if someone had done something like that.

If a driver tried to deliberately move someone out of the way and the starter or other officials saw the move, it didn't matter who the driver was, he got the black flag and went to the rear of the field. Yeah, the bump and run was definately considered to be dirty driving until that Earnhardt character came along. He and the all-time absolute worst racing movie ever made a whole generation of race fans think that "rubbin's racin" was the way it should be. NOT!! That type of driving would result in a black flag, a trip to the rear of the field and a warning. Continued behavior of that sort would get you a week or two vacation and the third offense usually meant that you needed to find another track or sanction to race at.

Anyone involved in an incident which caused a yellow flag to be displayed went to the rear of the field.

The running order reverted to the last complete lap before the yellow flew; nobody seemed to have much trouble with that system. Driver's seemed to feel that if I passed the guy on that lap, what the heck, I'll just pass him again when the green comes back out.

Oh yeah, the flagman controlled the field. He was the one who decided what flag to throw and when to throw it.
It wasn't a very good idea to get involved in arguments with those guys, either.

But then again, it used to be about racing, not about how much money who has to spend on how much television time.

Gosh boB, I'm glad you posted that. The past few months I begun to believe I was hulucinating thinking that very stuff you mentioned was the way it was. Well if I am, atleast their's 2 of us that remember it that way.

My theory always has been if you're such a good racer why do you have to shove someone out of your way? Show me how good you are by passing them, out racing them. JMO

I also chose # 7. The way things have been going,
it's a crap shoot which rules will apply or be subject
to change the next week. LOL
Good enuff to keep us all guessing, :D  :D  :D

...who knows what is considered racing anymore...the bean counters are in charge...

I concur that tossing cans/trash on the track is poor behavior....BUT if Helton and crew would consider why the peasants are rebelling ( three months savings on average for real people to attend a Cup event) maybe they would consider doing something to make us shmucks that made them what they are .... happy.

Aww man Windsor, if I had to guess (and I do have to guess, I guess), I guess I might think that could be the outer housings for some sort of centrifugal supercharger. Looks sorta like the case for the blowers on the old NOVI's but I'm gonna guess (again) and say maybe something for a blue oval product?

OR am I completely out ta lunch on this one?

You're guesses are close about it being a type of supercharger. Turbo, to be exact, from a WWII P&W aircraft engine. It supported one bank of radial cylinders. Amazing, isn't it?
