my family and I own two, a desktop PC and a labtop PC, I'm using the labtop right now because I'm currently on vacation in Sedona, Arizona.

I've obviously omitted the 'none' option, because you are talking to me on a computer. Unless you were using a library PC or workplace PC and dont have a PC of your own to go about the internet well you know.... etc.

2........mine and DE's.......we're networked.........

we also have about 3 or 4 dead computers.....useless old things......this summer, DE is building himself a new one and then I am next..... :D

None. Mine bit the dust so I have a loaner from Gollum...

I only own one at a time, I have had 2 PCs and decided to go with a laptop this time for study reasons and they look kooler! My last one bit the dust too, or I should say smoke! It blew up...yes I shouldn't work them so hard, hey.

Like Cutie said.........we have two. Both PC's desktop (mid tower sized).

Got a question........how do you blow up a computer? Quarter stick of dynamite or something? :D I guess I had one "blow up" on me once.....the power supply cooling fan failed and the PS smoked itself. Pretty inexpensive and easy fix............less than 35 bucks and about 15 mins of my time. Back in business in about a day because it happened late in the afternoon and the next morning I went to the computer shop and got a new one........maybe 18 hrs down time. Moral to that story is get the biggest PS (wattage) you can fit in your case and get as many fans going as you have spots for in the your case. Even get one of those fans that fit in an expansion slot. So what if your computer sounds like a vacuum cleaner when you start it up!! :D I have three not including the PS fan and CPU fan.........Cutie has four (she has one of those expansion slot ones) since she has an Athalon CPU which run quite a big hotter than the Intels. I won't go that route again. :)

I have no idea how I did it, but I'm rather good at it as that's what happened to both my computers. I think the first time had something to do with the power supply, where we use to live the lights would dim every now and then during the night. Weirdly it happened while the computer was off! I was in my room brushing my hair and bang! up came smoke and sparks for crying out loud! Scared the hell out of me! The second time I think had more to do with viruses or something.

I have a Dell laptop now and it's working a dream, couldn't ask for more. :)

I was joking Tiger..........spikes of electricity can actually blow things up. Even when in the "off" position on the switch. Especially when "soft on/off" is used (software turns your computer on and/or off). But, most "blowing up" of computers is power supply related........it will "pop" when it goes (and it can be loud too). The smoke is the varnish and insulation burning off the windings within the PS.

A virus shouldn't necessitate trashing the computer........if can be formated or, in the worse case, zeros written to it then formated. Good as new (almost). But, if you really wanted a new one anyway, it's a pretty good excuse!! :D

Our family owns a total of 5 computers. No wonder our electric bill is so high.
