how messed up is this?

here in oklahoma, the oklahoma city public school district sucks, the people at the board make sure they get paid tons of money while teachers and assistants (my mom) get paid barely enough, they've wasted so much money that they are laying off over 100 teachers, and tons of bus drivers, my school is a technology school so there will be no bus routes on any side of town to get there, my school will loose i'd say over a third of the population, if you are a first year teacher you wont have a job after the holidays and there deciding whether or not to go to a cleaning and catering system to not pay cafeteria workers and custodians. so if you get a chance please pray for all the people loosing there jobs...


do any of yall have this problem where yall live?
 
I believe the problems in Oklahoma are pretty much in line with every state's problems.........mainly the bearucracy within the public education system in this country. Throw the NEA into the mix and you have a huge mess.........no one seems to want to work to fix the system. Money's going to the wrong places........instead of redirecting that money, the Education Depts simply demand more money. The tax payers are digging in and not giving them the money......so the system gets worse.:)
 
Zoe, we are all having to bite the bullet, so to speak. You don't even want to know what's going on here in the state of NC. Our taxes keep going up and up, and there's no stopping them.
 
well other districts aren't having this severe of problems-yukon, edmond, western heights, and moore are holding there own :(
 
The D.C. Teacher's Union is under investigation right now....seems like a few people on the board embezzeled over 2 million dollars.....http://www.nbc4.com/news/1849883/detail.html

They seized big screen tv's, silverware sets from Christie's, $20,000 mink jackets, $15,000 wigs, (yep, 15 g's, not a typo) and other goodies.

No wonder the U.S. Capital is such a slum.
 
well they decided not to lay off the teachers well atleast not untill feb
 
The men and women in our armed forces are paid just above the poverty level. When you add a spouse and children to that income, no matter how cheap food is at the PX, how far do you think that money goes ? Less than a month ago a raise for the soldiers fighting for our freedom was denied. Less than two months ago our fearless leaders in DC voted themselves a raise. They are also going to be getting more in retirement now too. I believe the number was $15,000 a month. How messed up is that ??

Zoe, I sincerely hope that your mother and the others don't lose their job. Teachers provide a great unrewarded service to us and it's sad that they don't get the pay the and respect that they rightfully deserve. Keep your chin up and try to be positive. Life throws us some rough times, but it also throws us some good ones. Learn from the rough ones and enjoy the good ones. I always tell myself....this too shall pass, and it does eventually. :)
