How pitiful is the 2013 draft?

It is definitely a weak draft. No doubt about that. If Clowney was allowed to go pro, it would be better, but not much. My Browns pick 6th and everybody has them taking a defensive end so they can finally put some pressure on the QB. I like that idea, but it would be better of they did that and stuck with the 4-3 where a great DE can be most effective. But, what do I know?

Looks like he'll be in the 2014 Draft. If so, he better start searching for real estate in Jacksonville.

I heard one of the ESPN "experts" yesterday say that the Browns are expected to make a run at free agent Paul "Freddy" Krueger(sp?) from the Ravens. I hope the guy is right about that. That guy is a really good pass rusher.

I hope to god we pick up Krueger and run the price up on Flacco as well. Mike Wallace is another name being thrown out there a lot with Cleveland.

I doubt Flacco would even consider Cleveland. No offense, but going to Cleveland is like a death sentence. Y'all could get Tom Brady tomorrow and he'd suddenly turn in to a mediocre quarterback.

The salary cap is an interesting dynamic this year though - more so than usual. I think Baltimore's going to have to cut some players.

Unfortunately, it looks like Jacksonville's going to have to use the draft. They couldn't have picked a worse year to suck as bad as they did.

No, no, no. I don't think we will get him. I'm saying drive up his price, then since Baltimore doesn't have much cap room, they'll be forced to let other key players go.

If they're doing the regular franchise tag, we can sign an offer sheet of $20+ million to him and force them to match and if they don't match, we give up 2 first rounders and we get him. But they're going to have to do the exclusive franchise tag which is going to be upwards of $20+ million anyways.

Cleveland has almost $50 million in cap space to play with and the Ravens only have about $15 million. Flacco is going to cost them a lot of that. Flacco, Pitta, Ellerbe, Kruger, Reed, and Williams are all key free agents for the Ravens. They are good to be losing a few good players no matter what.

PS...screw you for the death sentence comments!!! :p I kid, I kid. Hopefully Haslam turns that around. Things are going to be much different under this ownership. Lets not forget he was part of the Stealers orginization, so he knows what it takes to win.

I'm not sure I want Flacco at anything close to $20 million a year. He's a lot better than Weeden, but that's just way too much cap space for a guy like that. Wallace, on the other hand, would be a great pick-up as long as the cost is even close to reasonable. He is a game changer, a playmaker the Browns are short on. Although Josh Gordon is turning into a Wallace type player and he is already here and doesn't cost much at all. Having two of those guys on the same team would certainly keep defenses honest and really open up the running game for Trent Richardson.

Flacco's an elite QB and he's proven it. It takes a lot to outperform guys like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

It sucks for any team that's going to have to build a team based on this year's draft. Maybe there's a Colin Kapernick type in the second or third round, someone that's not on anybody's radar.

I'm personally looking forward to another 2-14 year --- actually, it'll be 1-15 or 0-16 with Gabbert still in as QB. Jadeveon Clowney in Jacksonville would be nice.

He is a very good quarterback. I'm not sure I would go as far as to say elite. There is no doubt that he is much better in the playoffs, and that is rare and extremely valuable. However, if the Broncos safety doesn't misplay the bomb to #12 with less than a minute left in their playoff game, Flacco and those guys go home early and nobody is talking about him being a $20 mil/yr player. Many of his biggest plays in the playoffs were throwing the ball up for grabs and watching Anquan Boldin rip it away from the DB who should have intercepted it. It's kind of like when Daunte Culpepper(sp?) used to throw the ball up for grabs in Randy Moss' direction and Moss would make an amazing play on the ball and people thought Culpepper was actually good. Then Moss leaves and he is exposed for what he really was, which is an average to below average QB.

Sometimes, wide receivers make quarterbacks look good. But the quarterback has to still put the ball somewhere in play.

Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts made Chad Henne (who is, by all measurements, a terrible quarterback) look good for several weeks in Jacksonville. On the other hand, Gabbert couldn't even throw the ball in a location where Shorts or Blackmon could make a play.

I think I'm going to have a heart attack this year.

No, I don't even want Flacco, but the Ravens are not going to let him go. They exclusive franchise tag him, they have to pay him top 5 QB salary average, which I'm sure is around 20 million. If they just put a regular franchise tag on him, I'm just saying give him an offer of $20 million so Baltimore has to match that, because you know they are going to.

I'd love Wallace, but I'd rather see them go after Bowe.

And lol @ Flacco being elite. He's good, but not even close to being elite.

I'll gladly give you Weeden for Sanchez. Lol
That is crazy. Sanchez is horrible. Weeden had some pretty bad games, but he also had some really good games. Rookies tend to be inconsistent, even if they are almost 30 years old. He has a cannon and now he has a head coach and an offensive coordinator who know how to use it and can, hopefully, help him make better decisions.
