By now, even the press knows that the reigning champ Jimmie Johnson has as many anti-fans as he has fans. So what can be done about this other than someone kidnapping him or something worse? I've got the answer, become a fan of this guy. I know, how repulsive to many of you, but look at it this way. I have a way that will turn those menacing looks and fabulous fingers in smiles. So how you ask? Simply put money down on him. I will guarantee you that you will begin to root for him. And maybe, if we get enough people to do this, he will begin to lose and we can all go back to what we were before. :)

That's like reverse psychology or something, ain't it? :D

I don't see how someone can't be a fan to some extent. Yea gets boring that he wins all the time but I am extremely impressed with the dominance. I just can't get over how good that team is and that nobody is even close to being that consistent in the last few years.

Just kidnap Chad for the next 20 races. Problem solved. Wherever you keep him, make sure he can watch the race from an undisclosed location every week.

Remember when Jeff Gordon's entire pit crew,The Rainbow Warriors left to go with Jarrett for more money. Those were the good old days.Maybe it could happen again.

I'm thinking Chad alone would cost Roger or Chip a good million bucks or so? I'm sure he gets paid a good 3/4 million at least per year, to sit on that pitbox?

I'd bet Chad makes more than that and if any other organization were to try to snatch him away Hendrick would match the money in a heartbeat.

Didn't Hendrick give him a piece of the team to insure he didn't jump ship like Everham did in addition to his salary?

I have to agree with this. I mean I respect anyone that can do what that team has done the last few years.

Last night I was watching NASCAR now and they put up a clip that said something along the lines of "The "WING" era was dominated by Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch." I wonder if taking off the wing and pointing the spoiler on these paticular cars will make a difference in Jimmie's dominance?

I think a bigger question is, how good would Johnson do, if he was without Knaus? How good would Knaus do, if he was without Hendricks vast resources?:idunno:
Certainly there would be some success, but nowheres near whats going on now.

How many times has Chad been side lined and Jimmie still won? The CC does make a difference but Jimmie would make any good CC chief look better.

I say cut Chads tongue out and break both of Jimmies knees to knock them down to only top tens for a while...

Jimmie is a hell of a driver. I've always been a moderate fan of his, to some extent, mostly because my favorite driver is Jeff Gordon and of course Gordon is part owner of the #48 team. Jimmie is a really nice guy who treats people with respect and is extremely humble for a guy who has accomplished what he has accomplished.

Being a hard core Jeff Gordon fan, and a Richard Petty fan years ago, I can certainly relate to what it must be like to be a die hard Jimmie Johnson fan. Actually, all of the hatred directed towards Jeff Gordon, and how classily he and Brooke handled it, is why I became such a fan of his in the first place.

I don't see how anybody could not respect Jimmie though. I really disliked Tony Stewart, and still do in a lot of ways, but he certainly has gained my respect as a very good driver.

No, thanks

I like to root for the underdog. Jimmie is not the underdog.

Subvert the Dominant Paradigm!!!!!!!!

I pick Jimmie Johnson to win every week in my pick-5 pool... it doesn't pain me as much when he wins anymore.

It sounds like you and I could be great friends! LOL

I totally agree with that you are saying here. I am a hard core Gordon fan and like Jimmie for pretty much every reason you stated above. As I have said, it is amazing to watch history take place before our eyes!

Not that I'm a real fan of Johnson, but I'd almost really like to see him do five in a row. I've been rooting for Jeffy to get another for a long time now and still wish that on him, but if Jimmie does it again this year, I know many fans of two older driver who will begin to feel the heat of their beloved driver's records being threatened. ;)
