Mine was spent in the hospital. Just getting back up and moving around again. Had a trip to the emergency room last Thursday afternoon with severe stomach pains which resulted in emergency surgery on Friday to remove a bad gall bladder. Missed the race on Sunday, getting my release from the hospital and just sleeping. Have been doing quite a bit of that.

Hope everyone had a better Memorial Day weekend that I did.

Sorry to hear that maj. I know what it is like to be in the hospital. Hope you are feeling better.

Majestyx, I hope you are feeling better soon. While you are resting/sleeping, you are healing.

Sorry to hear Maj, hope everything is better now!

I got pulled over Sunday...He said he could not see if i had my seatbelt on or not, but there was someone in my backseat so you could not see it regardless. But It's cool, I did not get a ticket or anything, just the 2nd time i have been pulled over in the 5 years i have been driving.

I think the seatbelt thing should be of personal choice for an adult. I remember one wreck around here a few years back where this 16 year old kid died because his seatbelt got sruck and a guy was trying to get it off him but the truck caught on fire and burned him up.

Maj, so sorry to hear about your problems. God speed to you, but just know this, you didn't see Jimmie's bad pitstop that could have, might have kept him from victory. Hope you get back to 100% real soon.

My day was spent playing golf. A bunch of us from work had a great day at the golf course and we played 27 holes. This old many couldn't play much more, but had a wonderful time.

Aw maj, I'm sorry about that, but as Prof said that's one less thing you have to deal with.

Thanks everyone! Getting more mobility back as each day passes. I was fortunate that I was able to have laparoscopic surgery and only have 4 small incisions instead of the one 6" incision. I have to go see the surgeon for a follow up on Thursday morning to find out when I can drive and also go back to work.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

I guess its good you didn't hear about my gall bladder removal last year. It was the same procedure as yours. I had the surgery on a Thursday and was supposed to be back at work Monday. Except I didn't get to go home right after. 3 nights in the hospital. Couldn't eat or sleep. Finally told them I was going home. I was out of work for 5 weeks. Massive infections. I won't describe the putrid stuff that oozed from the navel incision for weeks. 2 rounds of antibiotics. Then there was the adjustment my body had to go thru not having the gall bladder. The powder medicine was absolutely vile. For almost a year I had to make sure there was a bathroom nearby when I ate. I'd often have to interrupt my meal for a mad dash. It was embarrassing to say the least.
On reflection I think I'd rather run the risk of more gallstones. I'd only had 1 bout and it wasn't as bad as the cure...

EEEEEEEKKKKKKK! Glad I didn't hear that before either!!! I didn't get to go home right after my surgery either. Admitted thru the ER on Thursday afternoon, surgery was on Friday afternoon, and I didn't go home until Sunday evening. I was being given 875mg of antibiotic 2x a day while in the hospital and am still on same for a couple more days. So far, no oozing of any kind, but the navel incision is the one that hurts the most. I will agree that eating is a challenge. I'm staying away from the spicy/greasy foods for now. Have found that I can't eat as much either. That's a good thing! Means I can lose a little more weight!!!

As for the gallstones, you can have them! I'll take the cure ANY day over that excruciating pain!

My pain wasn't that bad and was over fairly quick.
I went in Thursday morning, got prepped and had the surgery the same day and was supposed to get out that evening. Needless to say I hadn't planned on staying so I had nothing with me. And, they were a little onery on giving me my meds.
You wouldn't like me without my meds.
Heck, who am I kidding, most don't like me with my meds... ;)
As to eating, I lived off of those little pudding cups.

Hope alls well Maj. My weeknend was great except for the speeding ticket. Cop evidently didn't like the No 24 bumper sticker on my truck. :p

bp, I had absolutely no problem getting my meds. They were actually administering them 2 ways; one was morphine via my IV tube which they changed to a pump so I could administer it myself every 15 min. after surgery and the other was with a shot of darvocet w/fenergran (for nausea) in the rear end. I really felt like a human pin cushion while I was there. My rear end still hurts! But, the pain is nowhere near the pain I was in on Thursday last week. Thankfully, it won't be one that I will ever feel again either.

Thanks, Prof. Your so insightful. ;)

Tell them about your gallbaltter surgery. It was before the laser kind. Kelloggs was one sick puppy.

I don't want to relive that experience. *shudder*
My daughter was only 8 wks old when it happened.
Your two year old nephew bit me right on the staples.

Yeah this strange woman bit me one time but I think we were in Office Depot instead of Staples...

gallbladder ...

been there done that.... no fun for a guy either

For everyone else I'll be glad when they're able to do lithotripsy (sonic waves) on gall stones and it works as good as they do on kidney stones. Often times the sound waves don't break up the stones small enough to be passed and surgery is still required.
I would have loved a non-invasive treatment. I'm considerieng going to a different doctor when I need a colonoscopy. They now have a procedure where you swallow a wireless camera. It travels your entire digestive system constantly sending back images. So you're getting an upper and lower GI all at the same time. A typical colonoscopy gives them maybe a 3rd of your lower intestine. This camera gives them the esophagus, stomach, large and small intestines. Now if they have to go in to remove polyps or such then yeah, lube up.
Oh, and the good news, the camera is passed naturally after 8 hours or so and no you don't have to retrieve it...

Good gosh... swallowing a camera...do u buy those @ Wall Mart :D

They're really tiny, obviously. A little larger than some vitamin pills. The "pill" is shaped to make swallowing easy. You wear the receiver around you waist to collect the transmitted pics.
