Wilma is now classified as the most dangerous hurricane in recorded history, according to my local news. Winds at 175mph, lowest barometric pressure ever measured, and forcast to smack the Florida Gulf Coast (where my sister lives) sometime over the weekend.
Sis is still in the renewal process after Charley, Ivan and the other hits that almost destroyed her home.
Local news also warns that after crossing Florida, Wilma will move up the East Coast and present another MAJOR rain event for New England.

Thoughts and prayers to ALL in the path of this dangerous storm!

if i lived in FL. i would be gettin out.......

all i can really say about this hurricane season is everyone should know by now that mother earth is not very happy with us and IMHO things are only going to get worse.

and thats several days away...the storm track as weve seen can shift quite a few hundred miles..........

This baby is changing quickly. Of course, we all know how quickly it became a cat 5, but as of 5 o'clock this evening, the forecasters are scratching their heads. A few of the models show the storm stalling somewhat over the Yucatan and then moving east over Cuba, while others haven't changed much. I really feel for those people vacationing in Cancun, Cosumel and the area. We know this area very well and I'd hate to see it torn up very bad. But I'd hate more to see more damage to any of our countries cities. Be sure and keep an eye out for this booger.

If I were in Fla., it would be time to pee and flee.
I feel sorry for those affected by hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.
Here in California, we got earthquakes, but there's a bad one only about every 20 years.
Got shook in a 6.6 in 1971 and lost a friend in 1994 in a 6.9

There is a high pressure front moving from the Northwest into Georgia that will help steer Wilma and the latest forcast is still all about warning Florida.
Many countries from Jamaica to the Yucatan to Cuba have ordered evacuations and the tourists are fleeing.

Yeh then it is right up the coast to New England....jusy what we need more rain!!

A message from my sister in Port Charlotte:

"This is looking better for us, but it’s still a long way away … we have the shutters up and have our hurricane kit ready. The boats and shed are tied down too. We’re ready!

My Dept Director (a woman) says that Wilma is a menopausal – because she has arrived late in the season – and she is prone to hot flashes and mood swings and could end up anywhere. Sounds about right…

Later,

D"

The very latest from NOAA forcaster Franklin...

There is very little left of the inner eyewall...and reports from a
NOAA hurricane hunter aircraft indicate that Wilma is beginning to
restrengthen. Peak flight level winds were 145 kt...and the SFMR
instrument onboard measured a surface wind of 125 kt in the north
eyewall. Based on these observations...the initial intensity is
set at 130 kt. The upper-level outflow pattern remains strong and
Wilma will have the opportunity to regain category five status
before it reaches the Yucatan...and the impacts there could be
catastrophic. With the likelihood of a more extended interaction
with the Yucatan increasing...significant weakening is possible
before Wilma turns toward Florida. In addition...the longer Wilma
lingers before turning northeastward...the more hostile the
atmospheric environment will become for strengthening over the Gulf
of Mexico.
One thing for sure, this one is very hard to forecast. Good luck to all that are in her path.
