Headed down to Florida in a couple weeks , anybody have any I -95 tips for food or anything. Thought I would stop in Emporia and check out Hermie Sadler's new restaurant . Got some fishin tips from Flflash and I hear there is some good late model racing in central Florida.

Travel tips for I-95: The South Carolina Highway Patrol has NO sense of humor and are sneaky. The Georgia Dept of Transportation is making a Life Long Project of working on I-95. Once you hit the Florida line Fog and Smoke are dangerous be careful hopefully all fires in the area will be out, rain forecast for this week. Jacksonville if you take 9A just past the airport it bypasses Jax to the east cuts a 1/2 hr off Jax 295 route and potentialy keeps your vehicle from looking like it just competed in a street stock event at Bristol.

While your down here don't miss some of the local short track racing:
New Symrna 1/2 south of Daytona: http://newsmyrnaspeedway.org/?page_id=10
Volusia County Speedway 1/2 west of Ormand Beach on highway 40: http://www.dirtcarnationals.com/
Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala 1 hr west of Ormand Beach highway 40 to 25: http://bubbaracewaypark.com/

Give me a yell if you have any questions!

HAHA

I'm serious about Jacksonville, 295 around the west side is a ZOO and the Animals CAN'T DRIVE! The east bypass is lightly used newer smoother and quicker it meets back up with 95 in the same area.
Don't even go 95 thru downtown

North Turn Restaurant is also a cool place to visit while in Daytona it's over on A1A on the ocean and is the site of the Original Beach/Road course in Daytona. Cool memoriabilia and good food!

Watch your speed in SC on I-95, I got pulled last year for doing 7 over while another car was passing me. I was only accused of speeding, but because I-95 is the "drug highway" they will ask to search your car.

Happened to some friends of ours as well that had a 6 and 8 year old in the back seat.

Not fun to have to sit on the hood of a police car for doing 7 over the speed limit.

Virginia is the same. A VA speeding ticket sucks and I don't speed in Virginia. But on I-95, keep with the flow even if they're going 90 mph.

I was pulled over in Virginia for going 11 over. Cop said he pulled me over in Richmond for speeding because all the other cars were trying to pass me. It was bull****. I went to the right most lane and slowed to 65 mph because everyone around me was going 85+ mph, chopping other cars off, weaving in and out of traffic and driving very recklessly, yet I was the one who got pulled over and received a $370 ticket because I was trying to be careful.

In fact, if you can go down 301, do it. There are a lot of red light hells on there, but it's much better than 95.

I hate having to get on the Crapital Beltway. I will try to stay in one line, hold a steady speed. But even then, I end up having to weave in and out of traffic because people want to jump in the middle and left lanes going 20 mph under the speed limit or because people will chop you off without looking.

I hate it when my entire drive is nothing but chop, chop, chop, chop.

Don't make the mistake I did of trying to go from Philly to Daytona in one day...and then doing it again the other direction which was worse. But I don't know where you are starting from.

Be careful in Georgia, they have a super speeder ticket law now, so if you get caught lets say doing an 80 in a 65 they will give you a ticket for that which you will have to pay and then down the road you will get another ticket in the mail for 200+ bucks. I don't see how they can really do it but it's something to definitely avoid.

I set my cruise control for 5mph over the speed limit the entire way through georgia.

First Turn on A1A is another great place. Childress and his crew used to go there quite a bit.

Don't eat the chili at Pedro's [South of the Border]

Some of the best racing you'll ever see is at New Smyrna during Speedweeks.:)
Also the dirt track at Volusia :)

Can't be repeated enough, they don't like Yankees speeding down south.

And that is a fact

Any neat 'southern' cooking places near the 95 in Georgia or South Carolina?

Stop at South of the Border. Only place in the world you can get a mexican falsa blanket, boiled peanuts, hermit crab, skin magazine, Amish licorice, good fireworks, stuffed alligator head, and a tattoo all under one roof.

I have been going straight through Jacksonville on I-95 with a 48 ft. trailer the last 5 years. It is the fastest and shortest way.

Just don't do it during the rush hours.

Screw that I-295 and the Hwy 9 on the east side with the toll for the footlog.

I plan all my trips to avoid major cities during the commuting rush.

To miss the traffic I just fire up the GulfStream 5. Or my Chopper.

Yes going thru downtown can be the shortest and most direct route IF you time it correctly same thing thru Atlanta and many other major cities. Problem is if you don't hit it just right or theirs an event at the stadium or downtown. One little incedent down there causes Havoc. Where their building the new I-10 interchange ramp is a mess also.
