I don't know, the fans seem to like it.

Racing at Bristol that is. TV ratings for both Busch and Winsto Cup events.

Winston Cup Ratings Up 17%

Winston Cup is on a roll. The ratings on TNT for the Sharpie 500 from Bristol turned in a stellar 4.8 rating, up 17 percent from last year's 4.1.

How long before the NBC Entertainment people finally take notice and start begging for this race to be on over-the-air TV? Saturday night's NBC lineup of Meet My Folks, Crime & Punishment, and Dog Eat Dog turned in a 3.3 rating, finishing in a distant last place among the big four networks. An identical 4.8 rating on OTA TV would have earned NASCAR and NBC a big win for the night, better than the 4.7 on first place Fox.

How long too before NASCAR stops downplaying this phenomenal marketing opportunity?

Busch Bristol Ratings Up 36%

Is there any question that race fans love Bristol? The Busch race scored a 1.9 rating on TNT, up 36 percent from last year's 1.4.

They love the celebrities, not the sport. If they loved it so much they would have watched the Busch race as well.

It's the singer not the song that makes the music roll along.

What major sporting events do you think would run contrary to that?

It it's not the players, then it becomes the event and venue as much as the sport itself. Such as the Indy 500 vs all the other IRL events combined.

Not saying it made a big differace,But the points race is tighter.and better than previous years with some new names in the top 10. Also people aren't going out on Saturday nights like they have the past few years due to the economy right now.:)

I love football, but really only watch NFL.  Guess I'm not really a fan of football then, either.

Sounds like you're an NFL fan. Do you like Aussie Rules Football? Do you like college football?

Get over yourself.  Who are you to judge?  You're not the epitome of a fan.

Who are you to judge?

ding! ding! Looks like you touched a nerve there Paul! :) I agree with you but you might have trouble getting the Jr worshippers to agree...hmm wonder why????? bet she only watches Busch races where Jr is running in them!

Jr was wimpering about all the media attention today at Nascar.com.Said he can't take all the pressure from it.We should all have his problem,Then we could undrstand how fame is a curse.:)

I simply meant that you've no firm ground to stand on when you make the constant condescending remarks about people that only watch one 'brand' of racing (for lack of a better term.)

Person A: "I love Shakespeare!"

Person B: "Which plays have you read? I've read them all"

Person A: "None, but I watched the Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo Dicaprio"

Person B: "You don't love Shakespeare"

When does the ground begin to firm?

I love to watch Both WC and BGN. But I don't think some one that watch WC only is no less a fan than I am. I like collage football ( GO VOLS ) But that don't mean that a person that loves HS football is no less a football fan. Can't we all just get along
