I have a new computer project

Mag, I'm curious why you are building a cheap computer with older hardware yet using a windows OS? The cost of a W2K license itself could get you a case and additional older hardware. Current Linux distributions are free, relatively easy to install and have full read/write capabilities with the ntfs file system using the ntfs-3g driver. Since you already have w2k installed it would be a piece of cake to install ubuntu/debian/pclinuxos/mepis or a number of other high quality distributions on a dual boot pc. food for thought <g>

Agreed. Ubuntu Linux runs great on my micro-notebook.

I just got a DELL Latitude D610 2.0 GHz processor upgraded RAM. The laptop count goes to 3 with one desktop running Windows 7.

win 2K = no license.

I thought about ubuntu (i have it, and it's 100% compatiable with all dell products [you can order a dell straight from factory with ubuntu on it, no fee]) but figured windows MIGHT be better long term. depends what i do with this thing.

true, but you can't do much on the cheap side. run a server, basic word processing etc.

i've been evaluating sidux for the last couple of weeks and am very impressed with their install once rolling upgrades. very nice and recognizes all hardware i've thrown at it except a dead usb external hard drive. i never expected it to bring the drive back to life though. <g>

sidux isn't for the linux newbie however.

painted today.

Roomate gave me his old gateway case.

The paint job didn't go as well as i was hoping it would, but i think once it dries and i do a wee bit of touch up, it should look fairly decent, for what i had to work with.

The top will take the most work. Front will be second. Side panels look fairly good.

after a little touch up..

need a better brush to finish...

the flash makes it look like it goes yellow to orange. I think that's the metallic in the yellow playing with light?
