I read today about how some of those guys in the "chase" are still upset with the way the new system is going. Tony Stewart in particular and his CC are very vocal about this. Their story is that they worked all year for the first 26 races to get into the top ten for the "chase", but was pretty much taken out of it in the first one or two races on that last ten. (Hmmm, did that sound right?) Anyway, I just don't understand their logic here because even under the old system, they would have been pretty much out anyway. However, there is something to be said about how these guys are pretty much points racing still. Jimmy Johnson can win the remaining races, lead the most laps and still not win the title if Kurt Busch has an average finish of 5th or higher.

I'm getting away from my original thought here, but it just amazes me as to what these guys can complain about. Under the old system, Tony is still 307 points out of the lead. Under the new system, he's only 204 points out.

I guess these guys feel that they should all stick to withing 50 points of each other until the very last race, I don't know.

Points under the OLD system, and I'll get the cheese to go with the Whine :D

I know Buck, Tony is in a better point position now than if the old system were in place. However I don't think that's the real point. They didn't like the new system before the last 10 races and thay still don't like it. Neither do I, it doesn't matter if my guys in a better point position than he would have been. I just plain don't like it.

Ya know, I really liked the idea of the chase at the beginning of the season, but now after we're over half-way thru it, I really don't think I care for it much anymore. I mean, yeah it brings a lot of drivers closer together to race for the championship, but that's all they focus on. If ya look under the old points system, McMurray and Jarrett are 8th and 10th, and those are two guys who won't have a chance to get in the top 10. I don't know, I just think it needs a lot of tweaking.

You all have good points, but then again, you have to race consistently well to get a good shot. That's how playoff systems work and that is essentially what the Chase is.

Ten drivers get a shot. One can argue that it isn't as close as you'd like it to be but the point is it's still closer than before and it makes for a better season ending. At least it's not just between 2 drivers anymore. Mind you, I'm a new fan but Nascar used to have the same problem that forumla one does right now, past the 26th race you pretty much know who's gonna win or at least have a pretty good idea.

This way, if someone screws up too much or someone races really well, they're back in th hunt. More than I can say for the old system for the last 10 races. I mean, I always prefered a clean slate for the last bit of any sports season.

Whatever works though, either way, the good racers will still be at the top no matter what points system is used. That thing with Dale Jarret does suck though, he's done really well and can't get into the top 10 no matter what. Sucks.

Exo, you stated exactly what one of my greatest dislikes for the C4C is. Someone that is NOT in the top 10 after race #26 still has no chance to do so. As the post made by kat shows, both Jamie McMurray and Dale Jarrett would be in the top 10 and possibly still have a chance to be at the head table for the banquet. They DON'T have that chance with the C4C. :(

Yeah, that's the only part I don't like. Jarret is cool. I like old racers because in other sports once your'e over 35 you're "old". bull****! Jarret rules!

(crap, I'm gonna be fine for that... )
