The bush race ended undet yellow and the 8 and 81 was 1st and 2nd and i did no see any cans over the fence that race.

I know sunday it was not all jr fans, but a lot of them was, and walking to the truck after the race most of the ppl that was yelling stuff about the race was jr fans. I was mad that both the races ended under yellow, for bush and cup tixs i paid $110 and did not see a green finish, i just hope the next race i go to im able to see on.

ok im sure that made a lot of sence, im just wore out, so im off to bed, night ya'll

It will be better next time. I have been to Talladaga twice and saw great finisnes both times. This is just one of those things.

for the jr, DEI (ect) fans im not trying to start anything just thought of that....

I went to the cup race last year and they had a green finish and i belive a car spun and kept on going with 1 or 2 to go, and dont understand why they yellow flaged it cause vickers kept on goin.

Lappy. Mostly it's media pressure and some fan pressure..........it's a lot more about safety this year over last year. Cautions are going to fall more quickly and more often from now on. That has it's good side but then it has it's problems too. But the thought is now it's better to err on the side of caution..........which, for the most part, is a good thing. We all need to get used to it. I don't see it changing back to what it was. The sport is changing...........we need to change with it or we need to move on.

I have allways wondered why nascar (cup and bush) cant do like dirt or the trucks.

i know yellows in dirt dont count and that would take forever to finish a short track race.

so why not go a little over the 500 or so mile mark? they are allways saying we love our fans, they are the best in the world.....so i guess they just love pissin us off......i say do wat the trucks do, Green, White, Checkers....then the fans will get what they want, but if they are saying well someone may run out of gas.....well let them come down pit road get some gas and line them up the same as they came in.

I've asked those same questions Lappy. I haven't gotten a real good explanation on just why that can't be done. I'm not much for green, white, checkers.......especially at the bigger tracks. But something on the order of a caution coming out with 10% or less of the race distance to go that caution laps would not be scored. But, even that has problems when we get down to around 2 laps to go. It's going to change, but I'm too sure we will all agree that it's a good change. Look at the racing back to the caution........there are many who absolutely hate that rule. And it's even stirred up the age old NA$CA$H junk. There are just some that will forever whine and cry about any rule change.............or whine and cry about any rule not put in that they want put in. Pretty silly when you think about it.

The short of it is why not write NASCAR with a suggestion? Get some facts and stats to back up your idea.......you just might be suprised at what you might get back. Or learn about why something can or cannot be done. Give it a try if it really bothers you about situations like yesterday and Saturday. NASCAR doesn't visit these boards.......talk here is cheap. And not really very productive, either.

very true DEW.

im not a big fan of the no racing back to the yellow, and i really dont like it when it happands in the back of the pack and just spins and not one stops or anything. and if you have a run on someone and are like 2 feet from being in a new postion you did all that for nothing and go back to where you just was.

hmm i might send nascar a little letter just to see what i will get back, if anything.

Do that Lappy. But spend a little time gathering facts first. Then set down and compose a nice email......get a spell checker or have your dictionary handy. And be patient..........you got to know NASCAR gets tons of email every day. Present your ideas in a very methodical way but be as brief as you can too. It'll take some work, but I bet it'll pay off. :D You don't want them to think you are bitching too much (though let them know you are not completely with them either). It's called tact......you can do!! I've seen you do it a few times here. :D

Waltrip said on INR last night that it's all about the cars not being set up for more than the advertised length - which makes about as much sense as he does!! He sure as heck doesn't mind them shortened. I guess it's hard for me to take him seriously when is basically the Richard Simmons of Nascar.

I agree with you however, let em come down pit road and do whatever they want...the race is under caution anyway and any car that can't improve their position in the race should be put in the garage.

If nascar has any interest in making the fans happy - give some extra racing over the scheduled distance and see the smiles on their faces.

I think what DW was referring to was how it will affect the overall planning that all the teams put in for races. If you have a 500 mile race, you plan all your strategy around X amount of stops, calculate fuel windows, tire usage (just overall pit strategy). If caution laps no longer count, you could end up way off on everything.

Of course I believe that the main reason is the TV coverage. We've already seen instances where victory laps and post-race interviews are cut short or not even shown if the broadcast is infringing on prime time shows. You really think the networks would go for giving up anywhere from 30 minutes to over and hour of their precious airtime....not likely.

When it comes to this particular discusion, I thought Larry Mac's comments on Totally NASCAR last night was good. Basically he said it was time to make a change from that rule and there were many ways it would work.

good point!

Fans keep pulling stunts like they did and races will be on pay-per-view before you can say "let's go racin'".
