That is awesome. Another pretty cool thing that happened this week was that Sam Schmidt the Indy car owner that is a quadriplegic due to an Indy car crash a few years ago, unveiled and drove a car that he and some other engineers designed around the IMS this week. To see someone drive a car that is designed for a driver that is paralyzed from the neck down was amazing.

Wow that's pretty special. :)

I saw that story, Nitro. I well remember when Sam drove competitively, and his accident was horrible. So happy to
see him drive that car. Amazing what engineering went into that car.

I went to Irwindale Speedway a few years ago for the All Star Showdown, I remember there being a paraplegic driver in the late model division whose car was equipped with hand controls. First time I had heard of such a thing was then.

I remember that watching it on TV. The controls were all mechanical, not electronic

I remember when they fixed up an Indy car for Alex Zanardi so he could drive again after his crash. He ended up driving in a Euro touring car series before he hung up his helmet for good. He instantly became my favorite driver, when he passed Brian Herta on the last lap, at the top of the corkscrew at Laguna Seca.

He still races! For BMW in the Blancpain Sprint Series.

Some pretty cool stuff there. Now if science can figure out how to repair spinal injuries would be the only thing better.
